I guillotined a misogynist with an expensive consequence — and it feels so good

Let us collectively bathe in this moment.

I'm part of my building's home owner management team; we work in tandem with a professional company. I don't get paid for this, none of the folks who serve get a penny. We do it because we want a well-run building.

My co-lead is awesome, he's about 25+ years older than me but treats me with respect and values my opinions. There are other folks of varying ages doing different roles.

Since my co-lead is away for work, I was tapped to let in a repairman.

Ladies, what transpired was the most sexist encounter I've had in years.

Right off the bat he was intimidated by me because I'm like 8 inches taller than this shrimp. This ain't my first rodeo.

He:

- talked over me

- wouldn't do as I asked

- interrupted me

- gaslit me

- pulled rank

Most importantly, he didn't even fix the problem because it happened to be working properly when he came. He wouldn't even acknowledge it was working properly. He said he fixed it! I laughed in his face and said "No man, it was already working when you got here"

*Cue the gaslighting*

I turned on my heel and walked away as he was spewing mid-sentence.

After he eventually stopped talking to my retreating back, I came back over and told him to pack up his stuff and go, we're done here.

Totally oblivious to my curt rage, he happily packs up his tools.

I buzz him into the elevator so he can get his car and he starts gaslighting me again as we're waiting for the doors to close.

Looking him right in the eyes, I turned to the folks waiting to go up in the elevator and asked them how their day is going.

Then, after he leaves, I called his boss. I told the boss if he ever sent this guy again, we're ending our contract.

The boss was a total POS. My next call was to the building management company to tell them to cancel this contract.

He's done. His sexism cost that company money and reputation. I'm telling everyone what happened.

Good riddance.

Guys like this only understand consequences. Fine. Allow me introduce you.
