Seem a lot on social media with men posting proudly “your body, my choice.”
I’m taking this as a wakeup call to look at ALL men in my life, not just ones I am interested in or have gone on dates with.
As someone who grew up somewhat conservatively, I didn’t understand abortion rights and a right to choose. Not just the logistics of miscarriages and the dangerous nature of pregnancy. If you read the manual and go look at the old reddit posts, having children with the wrong person can kill you and your soul. A rapist could get custody rights. Your abuser gets to use your kid to continue to abuse you. Even cases of divorces not being granted because you have a small child together.
On the other end of the right for women to choose, there’s forced sterilization.
In my opinion, I need to become even more withholding and picky even with men I am near, even in a non-date setting like at work. Sorry to say, but anyone who voted hoping to take away my rights to choose is also not a safe person.
I’m disgusted with all men at the moment and I don’t see it changing anytime soon. #allmen
Re male interactions and power of pregnancy:
This is why I am EXTREMELY strict with my boundaries. I made so so so many mistakes when I was younger re this, I'm very lucky i didn't get accidentally pregnant, however the truth is I always had in the back of my mind that I didn't want to get accidentally pregnant, so despite my unchecked pick-me tendencies back then, at least I had that restricting me! i don't know how or why that got into my head, but I guess on some level I have always guarded some level of personal independence, even if I was otherwise conditioned to normalise pick me ism. My dad was quite controlling and I always knew I did NOT want that in a man.
I agree with everything you said! 100% (except for your last line, b/c voting is not a single issue and human being are more complex than that). I wish you well and keep up those personal standards, protect yourself from toxic men. There are some good ones out there but they are, obviously, in the minority...
Re all that you wrote, it's SO important for women to center themselves, their needs, guard their energy, body, womb!, and personal power. Continually level up your life and you have a buffer against so much of shenanigans of low value 'men'. At every level from the mental/psychological, sexual, reproductive, financial, physical. all of it. Woman Up. then, if/when you meet a GOOD and DECENT man, it will be lovely and you'll have spent your time and resources on yourself, not on scrotes.
