Over the last three-four years, I've noticed that radical feminist positions are getting more and more attention, mainly on problematics such as prostitution and pornography. There's a noticeable change in online discourse within female-dominated subreddits that were known previously for mainly leaning liberal feminism are now more open about criticizing prostitution and pornography, some notable examples are the twoX, Feminism, and Askfeminists subreddits.
Did any of you girls notice that change ?
And if so, would that change indicate the direction feminist discourse will head to in the following years ?
I was thinking about exactly that.
In the 00s, I used to pride myself for being "not like the other girls" and "one of the guys" and I only wanted to hang out with guys. Of course they were awful to me.
In the 10s, whenever I'd be somewhere online, I'd see men talking about how women wouldn't date them because they are nice. That was a paradigm break for me, I used to see men as cool and interesting, but here they are showing they are actually stupid and pathetic. I started to develop my worth as a woman, but I still craved male validation.
Then the incel movement started to gain steam. Men are not only pathetic, they're evil and bad for you. I started not to care about male validation as much. I also joined abuse communities that highlighted to me how bizarre my upbringing was.
The next installment in this saga was me finding FDS. At first I thought it was ridiculous, red pill for women, etc, but I decided to read it to see just how crazy tall girls were.
I was hooked. Of course it was a gradual process, but male validation currently means very little to me.
I think many girls went through a similar saga. I think FDS and radical feminism started as a response to the increase of male bullshit and entitlement.
Wow it's almost like we're seeing how liberal feminism has failed women in society and served men primarily, and our human rights are being attacked constantly both on the individual and societal level and it's only getting worse.
Radfem forever.
I think more women are recognizing what a scam liberal feminism is. Who knows if that’ll translate to actual change, but at least I keep seeing young women wake up and I never anticipated that at all.
I wish I could say the same. I have yet to meet another radical feminist in real life aside from my sister. I met a young woman at work a little while ago and we got onto some feminism-lite topics, and it was a really good conversation. I thought maybe she was radfem. But then I saw she added "her pwonouns" to her email signature.
It definitely doesnt feel safe to express radfem-specific views among women in my spheres, because I know how much more common liberal feminism and mainstream casual feminism are. I'd get side-eyed at least and ostracized at most.
I was just thinking about it yesterday: I've noticed an uptick of radfem leaning opinions in female spaces, but wasn't sure whether it's really happening or I'm just seeing what I want to see. I hope this continues to grow and spread.
I have definitely been able to relate more with the radical ones who keep more to themselves. And, have put my liberal friends on the sidelines. I moved countries during this period and definitely feel more women support going around, and as a result from men. I have actively been speaking up about the double standards women face in my household and even my family is hell yes!
We’re in no way even a drop in the ocean. But, if we women stand up to get what’s owed to us and all I am saying is, BOY BYE FOR SURE!
Yes I have noticed it, and I am a part of the change, being as I am fairly new to the concepts as of 5 months ago. But I have also been diligently spreading the word to every female that I can. I want to start an FDS army.
I think that girls born after 1990 grew up with boys who have had smartphone accessible pornography since at least high school, and as they get younger and younger, more young girls are getting radicalized. When I was in high school, cell phones really started to become widespread I'd say around 10th grade. Before that people just had flip phones and full on QWERTY keyboards like the sidekick. Now, the average age of p*** exposure for a young boy is 11. So I can imagine if you are getting literally groped in the hallway at school, I got led into the bathroom and pushed up against the wall, boys made moaning noises at me in the hallway, etc, you would have almost zero tolerance for men's b*******. I would imagine earlier generations wanted to be nice to men because they wanted to get married and have a family. Now I still think young women want commitment, but when like 75% of girls have sexually disgusting experiences with p*** sick boys, I can see how deprioritizing getting stuck with a man for your life or not being his domestic slave would become more important. Especially now that abortion is literally banned in like 20 plus States. Women are realizing f*** these guys, pandering to these p*** sick scrotes who are literally trying to regulate our bodies and have painful anal sex with us is getting absolutely zero reward so why not go full hog on the feminism thing
I think there has been an uptick of small radfem spaces being created online in the last few years, and there are more radfems in places like TwoX, but I'm not sure that radfems have been getting more representation in mainstream media unfortunately.
I can't think of any widely-known figure in the media who claims to be radfem or even constantly supports radfem ideals without claiming the title, except JK Rowling.
