I wasn't sued for libel, but I was sued for defamation of character. After my ex's visitation was reduced to supervised visits only, my kids naturally had a lot of questions. My ex had been waiting for this moment. He recorded the phone call and took me to court, saying I was in violation of the defamation clause in our order. He did this even though it's illegal to record phone calls in CA! He ended up dropping it, but not until I'd spent $5,000 on an attorney to defend me in the suit.
