I’m sure many of you already know this, but here’s a gentle reminder to speak kindly to ourselves, especially when it comes to fitness and nutrition.
When we say to ourselves, “I should stop eating junk food,” or “I really need to work out more,” these statements carry an undercurrent of judgment. This judgment actually pushes us AWAY from building healthier habits, because the negative judgment is painful to our hearts and minds.
Consider saying instead, “It will benefit me to eat more healthfully,” or “It would feel good to exercise,” or “It is in my best interest…” to do healthy things.
