our confusion about health, diet and exercise comes from “developing in a culture that caters to men’s bodies”
this podcast episode is lengthy but has some really interesting topics including:
• iron and copper balance in menstruating women
• metabolic safety for women—our bodies can’t heal if they’re in survival mode, i.e. not getting enough nourishment or the correct types of nutrients
• restrictive diets are stressors
• the trade-offs of trying to get nutrients from synthetic food sources
the truth is that women’s health research is underfunded. Science as an industry studies young white males
(who TF cares about how to shave :03 off of Joe Blow’s Tour de France time, not me, not anyone here)
at the expense of fundamental knowledge about how women can optimize their hormones, support their cyclical systems with nutrition and heal from autoimmune conditions (around 75% of women have some kind of autoimmune condition).
it’s time to stop outsourcing our health to biased institutions and patriarchal ideologies.
i’ve listened to one other episode from this podcast and the guest sounded like a total PickMeisha, but this episode struck me as FDS aligned.
I recently watched this very informative video about female hormone optimization: https://youtu.be/GVRDGQhoEYQ
