Ladies I'm embarrassed to say that the first time I made soup with leek, I chopped the whole thing up, fibrous greens and all. Did you know you're not supposed to use the green part??
How was I to know?!
My mother didn't cook much (or very well, bless her heart), so as a kid we mostly ate Taco Bell, pizza, and pasta with red sauce. And PB&J sandwiches. Maybe an apple here and there.
I've been eating healthily now for a while, but I couldn't tell you why it's taken so much of my adult life to YouTube "how to cut an onion" or "how to dice celery", and why I chose instead to just wing it and struggle through.
DID YOU KNOW HOW SIMPLE AND EASY THESE THINGS COULD BE?!?
The internet can be a terrible place, don't get me wrong, but every so often there are gems like these. Gordon Ramsey showed me how to cut an onion without releasing the eye-burning fumes. Some other guy showed me a quick and easy way to dice tomatoes.
Let the internet show you how you can make your life easier, when you can!
I'm gonna blow your mind: veggie chopper! You want the ultimate cooking experience then buy one of these babies and your prep time is severely reduced. Not to mentions cutting onions is tear free. My chopper is one of my favorite gadgets.
