A guy at a dinner party somewhat jokingly told me "If I woke up next to a woman and she looked like a different person with no makeup on, she's getting punched!" I said, " You're advocating violence on a woman because of makeup?" He said, "That's false advertising!" I said, "So if I find out you have a small dick, would it be okay if I punched you in the groin?" And he said quite seriously, "I heard women do that!"
Really? You heard women punch men in the groin when they have a small dick?" And somehow this thing that doesn't happen makes it okay for you to punch women who wear too much makeup. You are so far gone from this planet, guy.
“"Bates Motel" is a contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film "Psycho," and gives a portrayal of how Norman Bates' (Freddie Highmore) psyche unravels through his teenage years. Fans discover the dark, twisted backstory of Norman Bates and how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma (Vera Farmiga), truly is.”
I can agree it’s not necessarily a terrible move to remove yourself from a situation like this scene. Killing women isn’t normal though.
for the original commenter to respond, “they should have listened to him” after someone pointed out he ended up killing two females in the scene was off putting. Basically infers he thinks that women deserve to die for “not listening”.
The girl shouldn’t have cheated on her bf here, but in no way does that justify her murder and she’s reasonable for not wanting any guy to go around saying they’ve slept together or any thing like that.
I just think it's scary how many men would justify the murder of females who simply "don't listen" to males or have boundaries.
Also how many times have we seen women be blamed for male insanity?
I want to suppose the person is joking, but it's far too typical for people to actually blame women for male violence.
Bates Motel is a pretty good show, though. I like it because Norma Bates is a fully fleshed out character in it, and Vera Farmiga did a phenomenal job playing her. It doesn't just stop at "guy is serial killer because of mother" - it gets into why Norma is the way she is, gets the audience to feel for her, and Norman has a relatively normal brother in the show, which somewhat subverts the "blame it all on the mother" trope.
