There's an episode where George is being set up with an old friend of Kramer's. This woman is absolutely gorgeous! Looked like a model. George was wearing an ugly toupee in the episode and had the audacity to judge the woman when she took off her hat and she was also bald. Mind you, the baldness didn't make her any less gorgeous in my opinion and I'm sure many others. Yet George freaks out and acts like he's too good for her.
It isn't until Elaine steals George's wig and throws it out a window out of frustration after calling his musty ass out for being a bald hypocrite that George realizes how lucky he is. When he goes to meet the beautiful bald woman again though, she sees his baldness and rejects him. LMFAOOOOOOOOOO. Sweet satire and karma... and it's more realistic that she'd be turned off from baldness despite being bald herself, because in every aspect she is more atttactive than George. So when George claims, "a woman with 0 prospects rejected me for being bald!" he's wrong. The woman seems graceful and lovely enough to be sought after by countless men, I'm sure. Meanwhile George looks like.... just some guy.
Also George has a fiancé later on that he mistreats on a regular basis. He made a serious decision like proposing just because Jerry talked about how their lives were going no where and George started to fear being alone. He spends hours begging Susan to marry him since they had previously dated and he disappointed her. She finally agrees and she is a nice fiancé, but when George finds out that Jerry broke up with his gf - he freaks out.
Now he's acting like engagement is a prison sentence and the wedding is a traumatic event to come. He even tries to cheat on her with Marissa Tomei (a guest star that was in an episode playing herself). Supposedly her type is supposed to be "short, quirky, funny men" like George... LMFAOOOO.... well scrote fiction made her like him and after she found out he was engaged though, she punches him in the face. He was so desperate to get into contact with her when he heard from a friend that he's Marissa's type. He kept talking about how a cup of coffee isn't cheating and he HAS to know what it's like to date an Oscar winner. She was his dream girl and Susan is just treated as a placeholder because he can't do better. Yet he would abandon her if he could. That episode ends with Susan punching him in the face too. Sadly she forgives him off screen and they seem to reconcile.
There are so many assholes like that though who would want to cheat on their partner with their celebrity crush. That's why it's not unreasonable to want a man to treat you like you're irreplaceable and to be sure he wouldn't feel tempted by other women.
George ruins Susan's life in every way. He improved nothing for her and she even ends up dying in the series + became a punchline in that. He adds 0 value to her life. Susan could have done so much better and was far more attractive than he could be. He should have been thanking the heavens every morning that she was willing to marry him.
Some of it is reflective of real life though. Unfortunately there are many good women who are waaaaay too good for their shitty lvm partners. A no value man can mess up your inner peace this much. As sad as it is to see Susan's treatment, I'm laughing at how much this show makes fun of loser men who take everything for granted. Men need to let their partner go free if they're gonna act like marriage is a death contract. But it's so real that a lot of immature man children propose just because they want to seem manly or grown up to their friends/ they don't want to die alone. Instead of proposing out of genuine love and commitment. Then the women end up with the shortest end of the stick.
George Costanza's character is giving all the warnings of how bastard men get engaged when they don't even care about their fiancé that much.
I’m never surprised by the rampant sexism on Seinfeld. Jerry Seinfeld was literally dating a child at the time he was writing and filming that show. What else could we expect from such a sick loser
The popular shows of the 90s/00s are pretty much all terrible. Seinfeld, Frasier, Friends, King of Queens, Everybody Loves Raymond…all full of men who contribute absolutely nothing to the world or women’s lives
The beautiful bald woman ^
Elaine humbling George.
George basically killed Susan by being a cheap-ass scrote who insisted on buying off-brand wedding invitations. When she licked them (because of course she had to do all the work at sending the invitations) she was poisoned. Not to say that George deliberately killed her, but he sure was relieved when she died! ... Of course the whole show was based on the fact that these were horrible people. I could stand watching Elaine and sometimes Kramer but the other two -- yikes.
