I'm staring to think Ana de Armas is a patriarchy princess. The delusional way she talked about the film "Marilyn wants this film to happen", how everyone cried when they did her Marilyn make up, saying she felt Marilyn's "presence" when they shot the death scene in the actual room Marilyn died in.
Idk it gives me miranda kerr vibes.
The reason for the trigger warning is that this movie.....turned out to be pro-life propaganda. All these disturbing and graphic abortion and miscarriage scenes. The way they used a cgi fetus is classic of pro-life movies.
My gut told me it would a hyper-sexual, male-gaze fap-fest that dishumanized her, and I was only wrong because it was that and SO much worse. It's hard to feel that anyone making this film cared for Marilyn's humanity or dignity beyond what they could get out of it. It turns out the entire thing was just fictionalized events. Basically someone else's pain and humiliation as porn.
The movie was based on a work of fiction by Joyce Carol Oates.
This movie along with the exploitive Pam Anderson movie, just fucking shitty people justifying piggybacking off fame and female victims. Fucking assholes.
It was soft-core porn. I am disgusted that I watched it. And her performance is so overrated. Marilyn was so much more than just a victim. She was a powerhouse, and she knew how to use not just her looks, but her charisma to get what she wanted. This performance shows nothing but "sad Marilyn".
Ugh. Well, I’m glad you warned me. God that just sounds horrific.
Blonde is basically pain porn featuring Marilyn Monroe.
That movie is trash. I'm glad it has low ratings and many have been shitting on it.
Its so unfortunate to hear this, I was actually excited to see it. I wish they would just leave Marilyn alone and stop working on stupid sh*t like this. The only impressive Marilyn content I have ever seen was on Youtube by some women who discuss her image and her identity. They are quite fascinating and even moving.
How have we reached this point where professionals cant hold up with people sitting down in their bedrooms and rambling about their thoughts?
They made her look like nothing but a sexual object, a woman who wants to bread for a man, who tolerated abuse, who gavw a BJ (that scene was sickening), it’s mostly about her being naked and crying. Calling her husband daddy … wtf??? She also talked so weird. Who talks like that in the movie? I skipped through it a lot and was disgusted. They showed that she had no power, no strength, nothing. Horrible movie.
She was so ahead of her time. Even the CIA was worried about her impact on national and global politics.
The director looks like how no woman in Hollywood would ever be allowed to look like
Male media strikes again
“Candle in the wind“ came on today on my car stereo and it made me feel bummed out.
