I've just finished watching this movie on Netflix and I thoroughly enjoyed it. From the setting, the plot, the acting, etc. ... up until the part where it was casted mostly by women. 🤗
What are some other good movies you've seen recently? Have you seen other women-led movies as well?
I just watched the movie Women Talking. Be advised it includes horrific sexual assault (in the form of fragmented flashbacks) and partner violence. It is from the women’s perspective, through their eyes, breaking free from all they’ve ever known and figuring out how to go their own way.
I loved “She said” as it’s based on a real story of two female journalists who exposed Harvey Weinstein. I also liked Promising Young Woman and Why women kill.
Another vote for Promising Young Women. I can honestly say I have not ever seen another movie accurately show the representation cultural misogyny and how insidiousness of institutions and 'good guy' facades can hurt women.
Bombshell was great. Loved Booksmart.
Barbarian was a surprising one for me, I would recommend watching it blindly without seeing any trailers if you like horror, and reading the feminist discourses that come up with this.
Prey - this was SO good. If you are interested in an action flick with a kickass woman at the helm and accurate cultural representation of the Comanche tribe. This is a predator movie prequel.
