What are some movies you have watched that aligned with the views of FDS?
I recently watched "the love witch" which turned out suprinsgly feminist. Without too many spoilers its about a woman called Elaine who casts love spells on men, but you soon realize she is someone who decidicates her entire existence to being the male fantasy - she is completely fake, from everything she says to her hair, she seduces men with sex and does not care if they are married. The movie also has a scene of comparing mens views of women with feminist views that call out how they objectify women and why. The movie makes many remarks about the non committal types of men and why they are the way they are. It compares womens fantasy in dating to mens fantasies. The movie is very sexual and has a lot of sexual scenes and imagery. Elaine sedues men with sex while her friend has a husband who loses interest in her and she wonders if she should have been more like Elaine. It is a very good movie that points out in a satirical way how men view and objectify women. It is probably the most rad-fem aligned movie I have ever watched.
Other movies I can think of are the bradford wives (referenced in the love witch too) and Harley Quinns birds of prey, a movie that got bad press because it did not appeal to the male gaze at all, but is pretty great.
Shows
-Doll Face
-Loot
-Hacks
-Fleabag
-Yellow Jackets
-Physical
-Grace & Frankie
-Glow
-Chloe
-Big Little Lies
-Little Fires Everywhere
-Mis Fisher Murder Mystery, Ms Fisher Modern Mysteries
-I forgot to add The Shining Girls that series was the bomb! So many twists and turns... I had no idea what was going on in the first 4 episodes lol.
Recently watched Clueless. I was pissed that I grow up watching Twilight instead of Clueless. It's pretty great although the ending is classic for teen movies I found the attitude and thoughts of the main character quite FDSey.
1) Mean girls (the stuff cady says still hold up today and imo, Aaron Samuels is a HV...Boy.)
2) legally blonde (I believe elle woods is an example of going from pick me to high value. Falling for the forever girlfriend trap because that scrote basically "dates blondes, but marries brunettes" and eventually realizes she is out of his league in career, ambition, personality and looks. Her requirements become too high for him.
3) the queens gambit (even though she slept with low value men before she figured things out, there should still be examples of how a woman can do what she wants sexually while keeping things classy.
4) if you don't mind Cdramas, "put your head on my shoulders is on netflix" I think the male lead is an example of a high value man. The female lead is not high value she just got lucky.
5) the adams family of course (every movie and every version of the show)
6) birds of prey is hailed as a feminist movie but idk, haven't seen it.
7) there's the coven
8) lady bird
9) greta garbo's little women.
10) anya taylor joy's Emma.
1) Schitt’s Creek. The arc of Alexis is amazing. Also showcases hvm-s (the father and the boyfriend of Alexis). But the absolute scrote of a mayor and his goddess of a wife was rather painfully to watch.
2) All rise (powerful and gorgeous female judge, her HVM and female friendships)
3) Drop dead diva
4) New Charmed except for one age gap relationship
5) Kevin can f*** himself
6) Dead to me (female friendship)
7) Rased by wolves (strong mother android and her HVM husband undroid)
8) The Good Place is not not FDS, I guess
9) The Outpost (accept for deliberately fugly Janzo getting a gorgeous goddess of a woman)
10) Grey's Anatomy features some HVW-s and HVM-s but also lots of casual sex and LWM-s like Dereck. Same with Station 19
I'm so confused. This is a feminist movie because it shows a woman seducing men with sex (nost likely objectifiying herself) and a married woman who is in a bad marriage, yet has these little moments of introspection....?
I haven’t been watching TV honestly but I just took notes of the above! Thanks for sharing
Not sure about movies but I re-head an old song recently and viewed it through totally different eyes since following FDS. It's Doo-Wop by Lauryn Hill, and it hits so much better now that I truly understand the lyrics.
