Anyone else watch this thing? I vaguely remember hearing about their data getting exposed - I never bothered digging into the details of what happened, but I had a good laugh at the parade of scumbags getting their comeuppance after this data breach.
Figured this documentary would be good for more laughs.
But no, this series sure try hard to make you feel bad for the cheaters. The word witch-hunt was brandied about repeatedly. Um... it's not a "witch-hunt" if they actually did the thing they are being accused of. Calling things a "witch-hunt" is based on the historical story of innocent people (mostly women) who were NOT doing witchcraft being tortured and executed for witchcraft.
The users on that website (mostly men) are guilty AF of being cheating, lying sacks of shit. The proof is in the website data. Some of the garbage took themselves out, but there were no false confessions extracted by torture, no executions.
It's still unintentionally funny, in a way. If I try to design something that would wreck a whole lot of cheaters - I can never dream of making anything as effective at doing that as Ashley Madison. They make bank scamming their users with bots, and then on top of that, it's possible they released their own user data (because the company considers any publicity good publicity).
Makes me wish I was a developer....would be truly karmic to develop an app/site ostensibly to celebrate and enable all their depraved asshat scrotery while hiding a 'gotcha' clause in the pages and pages of 'terms & conditions' that NO ONE ever actually reads.
The 'gotcha' clause could be something like, sure we'll let you put all your disgusting depravity on full display, thinking you found your happy hook-up haven....then at a predetermined future date (like years in the future) have the site COMPLETELY change (at the 'flip of a switch') to show all their depravity catalogued with all names/photos/details/etc open to the public on the web, searchable by their personal details that spouses, friends, church buddies, employers, prospective dates, etc could use to see just WHO the people in their lives REALLY ARE deep down at their core.
Just how many high powered scrotes (and their pick-me enablers) do you think would be outed for their abject misogyny and pathological depravity? Politicians, lawyers, 'captains of industry,' preachers, teachers, cops/civil servants et al....their true colors on full display. No more hiding behind their hypocrisy!
Ah, the wishful thoughts of Gen X FDS Queen with decades of lived complex trauma experiences at the hands of abusive scrotes/pick-mes!
I felt 0% empathy for "victims" of the leak.
Especially the influencer-man who was building an image of "perfect Christian husband and father" while he was cheating his wife all the time, all possible ways and even trying to hit her friends. Only unbelievable thing is it took that long him to get caught. All the bullshit he put his wife through was disgusting to watch.
I admit I laughed out loud when they got to the part where revealed men were cheating with bots. Well I knew before the document how female-users of those kind of sites are always 99,9% either bots, hired chatters or escorts trying to find customers. Even in normal dating apps, there is huge amount of fake female profiles just for keeping men there paying. Those kind of sites simply don't offer women what they seek: only risks and dangers so no, women are not main users.
I don't say women wouldn't cheat, damn right they do but not like men who are willing to do it with anyone, anytime and anywhere. Sex with stranger is always huge risk for woman and also very likely bad experience. Women in general need chemistry for getting turn on and you can't have that from catalogues. So yup, that kind of services are good for nothing for women and no one should be surprised about it.
I watched this today, thanks for the recommendation!
Grrr the “Christian” scrote who cheated on his gorgeous, faithful loving amazing wife…what a LOSER. It was infuriating to see, but also not a surprise as we all know that men are dogs and will cheat on even the most perfect woman.
And the Seminary dude who killed himself - the loudest Morality police aka religious people - can be the most depraved. Then they can’t handle the truth about who they are. So much so that he killed himself. His wife made me sad - “I knew he’d cheated but I wasn’t going to do anything about it.” Really?!? Insane.
And the dudes cheating was all about validation. So shallow, so gross and juvenile. Blech 🤢
Glad I watched it. Glad the company lost a shit ton of money.
