This is an article written in response to the misogynists who say things “men are better because they built cities and industries, men were the great philosophers and scientists and inventors… what have women ever done?” (Well Kevin, a woman birthed you and gave up her dreams and entire personhood to ensure you made it to adulthood so you could turn around and insult her).
By Brigid Schulte for The Guardian:
”It’s not that women haven’t had the talent to make their mark in the world of ideas and art. They’ve never had the time.
Women’s time has been interrupted and fragmented throughout history, the rhythms of their days circumscribed by the sisyphean tasks of housework, childcare and kin work – keeping family and community ties strong. If what it takes to create are long stretches of uninterrupted, concentrated time, time you can choose to do with as you will, time that you can control, that’s something women have never had the luxury to expect, at least not without getting slammed for unseemly selfishness.”

Women contributed to history despite not being allowed to most of the time. They made their publications under men's names. Anonymous in history was always a woman.
Women invented agriculture, weaving, and pottery. Not to mention giving birth to every human being who ever lived. But we're just useless in the eyes of so many men.
Women are useless and have contributed to nothing in history, but the lengths males will go through and bending over backwards they do to keep women chained to them- adolescents to late in life- is weird
Some of these men are like, "women don't build houses." Yes, women have been building houses since women have run their hands through the mud. Then they reorient themselves. "Women only build grass huts." Okay, that's a renewable resource that doesn't pollute the environment, compete for precious resources or deprive neighbors of a house. Men build monstrosities that waste precious resources, pollute the environment, stratify society and disenfranchise those who find themselves at the bottom. Tell me why that is great.
Relatedly, the happiest moms I know have 50/50 custody with a decent stepmom/forever girlfriend in the picture, whose labor allows the single/divorced mom to have more alone time. Comedian Monique Latise had a great bit about this on Laugh After Dark: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0_RhlgRZEgo
Yeah, I'd like to know how much all those famous male inventors, artists, architects and visionaries would have accomplished without a woman in the background to cook their meals, raise their kids and wash their socks.
Let's he how many books he writes, paintings he paints or cities he builds while watching a bunch of toddlers, handwashing their clothes and poopy cloth diapers, buying/growing food and cooking their meals on a wood stove, knitting, sewing and mending clothes, cleaning the house, and doing all the other chores and errands that he doesn't have to waste his time on, because he has a woman to do them for him (usually a wife, otherwise a mother, sister, daughter, maid or housekeeper). There's a reason why the few known female artists, writers and inventors were usually unmarried, well-off women who had staff to do all that for them so they could pursue their passions. The average woman couldn't afford any of that.
Yet the same men who make these ridiculous statements aren't even capable of building/designing anything - they just ride off of the coattails of other people in history. Talk about delusion from men who don't even wash their asses
Empire of The Summer Moon, a book about the Comanche, details how the women did aaaaallllll the work to keep the tribe thriving. men ain't shit.
