"In summary, the theologically based view of the sanctity of life adopted by the People of Alabama encompasses the following:
(1) God made every person in His image;
(2) each person therefore has a value that far exceeds the ability of human beings to calculate; and
(3) human life cannot be wrongfully destroyed without incurring the wrath of a holy God, who views the destruction of His image as an affront to Himself,"
Alabama Chief Justice Tom Parker, an elected Republican, wrote in an opinion attached to the ruling.
Man this is SO insane. Not to mention the hypocrisy of the 'pro-life' movement that treats the lives of ACTUAL FULLY FORMED grown WOMEN like property.
For the me the actual conversation is way more nuanced that either 'pro'/'anti' abortion/'life' but this Alabama ruling is certifiably insane. Talk about trying to take a woman's power away at every point.
Ok sorry for spamming your post but i have THOUGHT and OPINIONS on this. And apparently when I'm off, I'm OFF. This pisses me off. A few more thoughts:
If this goes ahead, and is retroactive (meaning it applies to all current frozen embryos, not just new ones from when the law comes into effect), all folks with frozen embryos should SUE THE CRAP out of the state. It is NOT CHEAP to freeze eggs/embyros. It would be tens of thousands of dollars per person (possibly more) lost. Omg this makes me so mad.
The hypocrisy is astounding. Could you imagine if these 'pro-lifers' gave half as much of a f*ck about the actual humans who can't access healthcare or medication in the US because of the UN-affordability?
Focus on fixing the conditions first for the humans who are already alive. Then maybe less people would need to resort to abortion, you crazies. (not you obv, them) And stop acting like you own a woman's body.
This is scary because what's going to be next? Women aren't allowed to go out while being pregnant because it might endanger the baby?
Also I hope the fertility clinics start to push back on this. This is big business for them and could really hurt them financially. And the medical field, rightly or wrongly (wrongly), has a lot more pull than us lowly women.
