I’ve listened to both. Kendrick a lot more than Drake has been my taste in music. They’re both musically talented. But both come off like assholes as individuals in their own ways. I feel that way about most hip hop artists. Hip hop is drowned in the culture of misogyny, to the point where it’s normalized and praised at times. I just find it cringey with all this “rap beef” going on - that some people want to act like Kendrick is some feminist hero.
Just because he doesn’t have the same allegations going towards him as Drake, it doesn’t make him a saint. Kendrick has been signed to Dr. Dre and collaborated with him/idolizes him - Dre beat the shit out of several women in his past/nearly killed the mother of his child/children. He’s collabed with Chris Brown (so has Drake). He also featured Kodak Black (a known rapist) on his last album. He and his record label also threatened to take their music off of Spotify if they took R. Kelly’s music down.
JUST BECAUSE there are worst things being suspected of Drake, I’m seeing constant dick riding towards Kendrick.
Acting like he’s some kind of a voice for women’s rights. Thing is, I may have a lot of Kendrick’s music in my playlist - but I don’t buy this idea that he gives a shit about women when you look at who he chooses to be friends. Both Drake and Kendrick only seem to talk about violence against women when it’s convenient, in the middle of a highly publicized rap battle, and trending. It disappoints me the amount of men AND women who don’t see the hypocrisy and how they’re both capitalizing off of women’s pain. I haven’t logged onto FDS in awhile, but hoped some users here could understand me.
Maybe I’ll post some relevant tweets later to help understand more for those who aren’t into hip hop. But yeah, Megan thee Stallion was shot at by Tory Lanez and has been gaslit/made fun of for years. Drake outwardly supports Tory, Kendrick has never once spoken up for Meg. I just think they want brownie points for talking about misogynoir, but it feels disingenuous when they waited until some “beef” to fucking talk about it at all. Like what kind of men wait until they’re fighting to expose one another for being possibly involved with pedophelia, women beating, or rape? All this time they’re dissing on each other even though they have friends who do the same horrible shit to women that they’re accusing one another of. They sit on this info and only wanna “hold each other accountable” when it benefits their careers or to protect their reputations. They don’t really care, they just care about their egos.
Musically talented doesn’t mean they’re good guys, I wish people would quit making Kendrick seem like such a hero despite having a rapist friend + women beating homies (same as Drake). I’ve seen Kendrick live in concert, I know many of his songs by heart. Yet all I have to do is call out some hypocrisy and I have men raging at me about it.
Even if Kendrick is a more “conscious” rapper, they both each have dumbass casual lyrics about “bitches” and “hoes” too. So seriously, I don’t think women matter to them until they can take a dig at each other.
Damn that's news to me although as a Kendrick fan I'm not surprised men's degeneracy isn't at all surprising
