I know it's come up a couple times on here that ladies have mentioned that they like to draw, paint, or do graphic design. So let's have a thread to discuss art!
What is your favorite kind of visual art or aesthetic?
Who are your favorite artists or favorite works? Who or what inspires you?
What kind of art do you like to make?
Do you have any favorite resources, eg. tutorials or tips or anything like that for improving?
Feel free to post your art too if you think you're safe from being doxxed. Or we could share over PM if anyone wants to. :)
(Being a giant hater myself, I'm also open to hearing rants about types of art you hate or annoy you, cause I have a few of those myself... *cough* AI art and superheroes *cough*)
I'm primarily a digital artist but I dabble in traditional from time to time. I used to do it for a living, but I got burnt out pretty quickly.
I treated myself to a Cintiq 24 Pro so I have been having a blast drawing with it and creating over school winter break!
Here are some of my favorite artists with links to their work or online stores:
Claire Wendling: A French artist whose simple pencil drawings are absolutely sublime. She is kind of an "artist's artist" in that her expertise is not that in-your-face or obvious to most people, but believe me she is a master of her craft.
She is my favorite of all time and I believe her work has a timeless quality that will be remembered for for years to come.
Wenqing Yan/"Yuumei": A very popular online artist whose ethereal, dreamy, lighthearted artwork will really cheer you up. I love her imagination and she's actually a wonderful person who does a lot of charity and environmental work too!
Jenna Barton/"Dappermouth": An artist who makes haunting, surreal environments for spooky animals. She has a great way of presenting a certain atmosphere. I bought the above print and can't wait to hang it in my new home after I graduate!!
Ryoko Kui: Draws the magnificent, hilarious and badass manga, Delicious in Dungeon. No fanservice or creepy pervy pedo shit, unlike most anime.
Grace Casas: An artist I recently discovered who makes amazingly beautiful 80s-90s aesthetic style vaporwave and futurism art.
Yeah, all my favorite artists are women... guess we are just naturally better at art. 💅✨
How fun! I love renaissance-style art, especially paintings of angels. I think it's important to nurture different aspects of ourselves, particularly: emotional, physical, spiritual, educational, creative. Since I don't have much artistic talent, I did a paint by numbers recently and it turned out very well! It took a whole year, but it was very therapeutic.
Cough Cough AI is rubbish Cough celebrity portraits Cough
I do love sooo much art though. Some of my favourite painters I can think of are Olaf Hajek, Horst Janssen, Anne Sophie -Tseigg as well as Alphonse Mucha. He painted the most beautiful women. Linsey Carr, there are so many it's hard to remember. Pinterest and Instagram are havens for beautiful art. It's pretty much all I use them for.
I love fantasy illustration the most and work part time as an artist as well. Here’s a couple examples of my work and then some of my fav artists too!
some favorite artists are:
@K_scrimshaw
she has a webtoon that is the modern retelling of the Phantom of the Opera that is gorgeous
@julietta_heart
she has stunning watercolor art!
Serena Malyon/ @smalyon
Oh I forgot another female artist right now I'm obsessed with; Ash Holmes. Such warm, bold abstract paintings.
I don't have a favorite artist but I love botanical and realist artwork. I have drawn a lot in the past but I've been slacking lately - a lot going on in my other hobbies. I usually draw in pencil and colored pencil. I'm not much of a painter. 😅
I am into cartoons and webcomics so a lot of my favorite artists are from this type of medium.

One of my hobbies does include drawing and I have a pretty similar style to these kind of artists since it's a big influence for me. I can DM you some art soon! I'd to love to see yours too
