I purely use reddit for cute animal subreddits, so imagine my surprise/confusion when I saw this particular post on r/aww:
Idk FDS, am I mean for finding this overly desperate? I'm not necessarily judging her generosity, but rather that I get the vibe that he's probably taking advantage of it?
All the comments are saying "wife her", "better put a ring on it", "she's a keeper" etc etc. and him basically ignoring them just to respond to random ones. Oh, and tell us what he's got so far: a hockey bag and white Vans.
He thinks he's really funny:
Oh yeah, he's definitely using her. If a man does for his girlfriend half of what she's doing here and post it on a site like reddit, he'd get eviscerated in the comments by many other men and pickmes, calling him a simp.
More importantly, I don't think women should do something so over the top for a boyfriend and I'm willing to bet money on the fact that he has done NOTHING to deserve this grand gesture. He's probably going to give her something cheap and low effort for her birthday, if he remembers her birthday at all. And the guy saying his gf is happy with Subway coupons? Wtf? Men are prouder than ever to be stingy, selfish, self centered rats who use women shamelessly. It's now a flex, something to show off on the internet, how much their sad girlfriends pour their everthing into these relationships while they laugh and 'joke' about giving them a gift card in the best case scenario *sigh*
Are we surprised tho? No.
Is this another stupid trend?
I remember seeing a video of a similar title in Arabic where a woman bought her husband many gifts for his birthday, the amount of those gifts were the number of his age! And the first thing that came to mind was
"what a fucking pickme"
and that was her husband, not some fucking clown she calls a boyfriend...so I don't know what to say about this one...
That poor sweet woman. She clearly put so much thought into this, and he's just laughing, like "Tschish". That's what he freaking said! Tschisch".
Fucking prick
What a lovely girl. I feel really bad for her :(
She's gonna learn the hard way like most of us girls do. My 1st boyfriend and I were both poor growing up, so for our 1st Christmas, my uncle had given me $50, and I used $35 to buy him a much needed pair of new sneakers to replace the ones he had that had holes in them and the rest on ingredients for chocolate chip cookies I made for him. On Christmas Eve, we were at the park, and I gave him the shoes and cookies. He cried because he didn't have anything for me. I said I understood because we were both from poor families. Then I dropped him off at his best friend's house and went home. He proceeded to f*ck his best friend's cousin that night. That was my Christmas present from him. Don't do for men. They will never appreciate what you do, and they will hurt you on purpose.
This video brings me fontrum.
It's uncomfortable and cringe
His jokes 🙄 also she seems to carry herself in a strange childlike way. Shy body language in front of her own bf like she is desperate to please and little girl voice. Weird.
yikes… the saddest part is she won’t even complain when he reciprocates with a subway coupon and a “Happy Belated Birthday!” text
This video makes me cringe. It’s as if he is making fun of her more than being grateful. What a scrote. Ewwww
It depends on how expensive or grand the gifts are. If they’re small little knick-knacks that have some meaning between the two, then it’s fine. Probably end up cheaper than something like a PS5, all told.
