That's pretty much the whole rant, right there.
And it isn't any ONE man -- it's nearly every man I've been with in my life.
I'm not saying I never snore. I have sometimes, if I'm extra-tired or have a cold. The difference is, it wakes me up immediately and I fix the problem and it stops.
Their snores are sooooooooo loud. I simply DO NOT UNDERSTAND how it is physically possible for them to not hear it. And it's always "Oh, was I snoring?" with this surprised air, like it didn't sound like a thousand dull saws trying to cut through corrugated cardboard.
I'm sleepy and cross. 😴 Please send coffee.
My guess is pure selfishness. When someone tells a woman that she snores she's embarrassed and will try to fix the problem (go to the doctor etc.) because she doesn't want to disturb people and make them lose sleep. Men just shrug and go "I don't hear it" because they don't give a fuck about anybody's comfort but their own.
My ex's snoring got worse as he piled on weight. Did he do anything to solve the issue? HA! Nope. He wanted ME to go on sleeping meds and change my entire sleep pattern. He didn't care I wasn't sleeping. He refused to do anything about a problem he was 100% responsible for. Never again.
Entitlement and health problems. They feel entitled to ruin their partners sleep because of their own snoring. For most people, snoring is a treatable condition. But they're happy to have their woman suffer instead. Health problems can be anything from obesity, smoking, inflammation, etc.
Rest assured it’s not coincidence or all in your head. Men are more likely to have sleep apnea than women. They snore until they stop breathing which wakes them up, then they fall asleep again and start snoring again and stop breathing again and wake up again. This repeats all night every night. Sleep apnea can prevent REM sleep, deprive the brain of oxygen, and lead to increased risk of heart problems and stroke. It can also make a man irritable and stupid. It can happen to men of any age, but especially sedentary men (which is most western men these days).
“Gender Differences in Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Treatment Implications”
Yes it’s selfish, there are solutions to it which a lot of men are too stubborn to be open to trying. There is a machine called a c-pap for sleep apnea that I have heard a couple times the wife talked the snoring husband into getting. they can often go to a “sleep study” and get one free or at a low cost(at least i know that some of them did, in the us)
even just not sleeping on their back. My ex snored sooo loud and refused to sleep on his side. I’d often nudge him to his side in his sleep so that he would shut up, but he would roll and return to being on his back pretty quickly.
I felt like the sleeping on the back was even an entitlement thing in a way. it is the least guarded way to sleep and I never would feel comfortable sleeping in such a vulnerable position. maybe I was taking it personal but it seemed kind of mocking like “i Don’t have a care in the world because my girlfriend takes on all my stress for me, I can even sleep through my own super loud snoring”
because most of them are pigs
Virtual coffee incoming. *hugs*
I knooooow my ex snored so loud I was literally sleep deprived for five years. it was torture
A chunk of them straight up have sleep apnea and will refuse the machine that will LITERALLY KEEP THEM FUCKING BREATHING because it’s UnCoMfOrTaBlE. Stupid fucks.
This is why I want separate bedrooms/bathrooms or even separate places if I ever commit with a man, again. tbh.
My friends husband snores loudly as well, but in his case he has sleep apnea. Unlike most men, he's actually going to look into how to fix it.
They have larger airways and lower larynx’s.
I know, it's so gross.
I snore pretty much every night I think! I don’t wake up from it either. but I’m also a heavy sleeper so I don’t mind when a guy snores. It doesn’t bother me because I never wake up from it.
but when I was younger and my friends and I had sleepovers they would alway tell me I snored so loud! I’ve had some bfs who tell me I snore and some don’t notice because they’re heavy sleepers as well
I don’t know I think It’s possible to not know you’re snoring loud.
