Honestly, that's all they sing about. It's very unusual because, let's be honest, they care only about themselves, mostly.

Men are obsessed with us and use us as the scapegoat. I love “1985” and that song is meant to be about a middle aged woman, but actually it’s about the men themselves, using a woman as a shield to criticise. It’s their way of expressing their vulnerability without the fear of other men making fun of them. Haha silly women (sweats because it’s about him).
Slight tangent. In the Kpop world, boy groups target girl audiences, and girl groups go for male audiences. You see girl groups at military bases often in order to boost troop morale! It was crazy to notice large amounts of men in the audiences, because for western girl groups, they still cater to women (IMO). Little Mix sings about men, but they also have a bunch of songs on female empowerment.
So it's crazy to me to see male bands sing about women all the time. It's not only 2-dimensional, but uneven in the music industry. Why is it unmasculine to want to stan Fifth Harmony or Little Mix or any other western girl group? They're allowed to sing about women, but not the intricacies about them. Not allowed to listen to women, that's gay [literally the opposite]. It's all patriarchal.
I think the pussy cat dolls, spice girls, and singers like britney spears (it's like her lyrics were designed to make men feel special) were targeted at men.For PCD I say it's the lyrics but with spice girls I think they figured out that they can gain male audiences with sexual objectification and win female audiences with lyrics about girl friendship and things like that.
I think it's because they think it will sell albums better, because they think girls want to imagine that the guy is singing about them. Also it would probably be considered completely off-the-wall or "quirky/nerdy" to sing about different things. One of my favorite artists right now is Louie Zong who sings about everything from ghosts to 90s sitcoms to 3D wireframes. Need more of that tbh. There is so much more to life than romance, as FDS likes to exemplify.
