Hi, Queens! I'm venturing out into the world of online dating (again) but I'm doing it with lots of FDS principles in mind. So far, I have OKC, Match, and Hinge profiles. I stay away from Tinder and I'm very hesitant to try Bumble again as I don't want to have to message first all the time. Hinge is the one I like the most so far but it's also a bit lackluster. Match is full of old dudes and even dudes that are in my age range are just meh. OKC is okay-ish but I get lots of profiles recommended to me that I just wouldn't go for. Should I try eharmony or is that for older folks, too? Which dating apps out there suck the least? Like I just got this message a few days ago on Match and I feel offended that this is the kind of "quality" matches that I'm paying for. Btw, I did not like or match with this dude, he sent me a message first.

Don't bother with eharmony, not enough people use it to make it worthwhile. Hinge and Ok Cupid are alright, but the same scrotes that are there are also on Tinder. Men diversify their efforts to be town bicycles.
If you notice, almost 100% of men's profiles on OKCupid will indicate they are open to: monogamy, non-monogamy, long term and short-term; i.e., they'll take whatever they can get, which is a turn off in itself to me.
I can't vouch for Match since I never used it, but I will remind you Match corp owns literally all dating apps:

...so you're getting the same company making all the decisions in regards to functionality and safety, with profit always being the number one motive and not making good matches or making men or women happy, because they need real women cycling back to the app looking for love, and they need men to keep paying so they can see the 1.5 likes they get every other month and maybe, eventually get the grand prize of one cheap lay per year.
I'll also briefly summarize what I've gotten out of years of OLD: the juice isn't worth the squeeze.
But best of luck to you...and I do mean that honestly, a lot of it is down to luck. There's a lot of fish in the sea, but unfortunately pollution is a huge problem in this day and age and you're statistically very likely to keep running into trash 😷
Crying at your name + profile 😩😂. Hinge is the best. As they say, “in the village of the blind the one-eyed man is king”. But only marginally so. OkC had the worst quality of males, for reasons mentioned in other posts. Chock full of edge lords and poly kinky types. Waste of $79 lmao. Don’t like Bumble. Happy a woman led company is successful. But I don’t agree with the differentiating factor which forces you to essentially court men. If I had other social options I’d leave OLD completely.
I meant my current bf on bumble and I would just say “hey” as my first message to all the matches lol. They would have to impress me from there. I was using this during college two years ago, though, so that may have been why the guys were more on my level at the time. Because of the disparity in men to women on dating apps just send a dry “hey” to them is all you need vs what they need to do to impress you.
I like Hinge, in the sense that my profile is like a fishing line that I cast out and wait for whoever wants to like my profile. I then decide if I want to give that person a chance. It's slower moving than some of the other apps, but ive gotten high quality experiences from it. The first guy to take me out from Hinge looked like Kevin Costner in the 90s and took me to dinner and a show.
Tinder is a bit overwhelming, and I also feel like it's a 'low energy' activity if that makes sense. I actually feel drained after using it sometimes. You get so bombarded with smut, but I believe that there are good men on it too.
OK Cupid - I've seen men with profiles from prison on there.
And Match just seems like a more expensive version of tinder to me. I get free messages from there sometimes and they have no more effort in them than Tinder.
I’ve been on Hinge, OkCupid, and tinder, and I’ve had the best luck with Hinge, both in terms of the quality of the men and in terms of receiving interest. However, I’ve been on hinge for a few months now, and it seems like the quality of the men is going down as the app gets more popular. (And I know it’s not just who the algorithm is showing me because I’ve deleted and remade my profile a couple times lol)
Agree with Hinge but pls pls pls follow the old rule books (vetting/background checks/fake numbers).. I’m happier doing no OLD than even Hinge tbh. The one and only Hinge guy who made it thru my process wound up giving me the ick. At first it was a stolen scrunchie, then a lost earring that “mysteriously” reappeared later.. Shoutout to criminal minds reruns for making me realize homie was taking tokens like the serial killers do. I still think about this earring TO THIS DAY so he was probably right that I’d want these items back, but not badly enough 😂
I have not tried many, got a couple of dates from eharmony that were just ok. i believe it was a paid subscription so maybe thats why the bar wasn’t suuuper low.
match really kinda irritated me because I went to all this trouble to make my preferences thinking it would only show me people who met them. Even some of the questions as far as looks, drinking/smoking status, distance etc there is an option to put “deal breaker” if they aren’t in that category you want. but then it kept showing me men who clearly didn’t even pass my dealbreaker preferences. i was back off the app within less than a day.
okcupid was just a lot of really unappealing looking men. i swiped for about 15 minutes then also deleted that one.
i do think it’s luck but it’s just too many low quality men to sift through. Tell me why my profile would have an age range and all the messages I would get would be from men much older than that range. I found it frustrating especially on the apps that only give you a limited number of messages a day before having to pay. No way would I pay for an app that seems to prioritize men who prefer me wasting my time than taking my preferences seriously.
also, I helped my mom create a zoosk profile and was disgusted by that one more than any other one I’d seen. Half the mens usernames had the number 69 in them ugh. I’d say that is the worst app I have seen so far
Ok cupid was so disgusting to me, the algorithm refused to not show me ugly men- I got off it after a month (I'm not super active) Tbh go for whichever in your area you hear the hot guys are on- I've also had bad luck with Coffee Meets Bagel, bc they limit who you're shown to, so to t ach the algorithm you basically have to swipe for nothing for multiple months... CMB ended up lowering my standards bc of how restrictive the app is and I don't like how it pushes you to get off the app before you can typically have a date/in person meeting Hinge is ok- it's basically what you assume dating apps are with a trainable algorithm and it limits the amount of likes you can send per day, not the amount of men you're shown per day. The Hinge algorithm responded WELL to my ruthless swiping and I was pleased w my matches after about a month and a half. Unfortunately the quality of guys is low (while improved thanks to FDS since my last OLD round a few years ago, still low quality overall). I typically don't see men a second time, and I now refuse to exchange info until we've met in person. (And if he forgets to ask me for my info in person then I next him too)
We need to designate a date on which to suspend online profiles.
don’t do hinge, tinder, or bumble.
Dating sites don't work. There's zero protection online for women. I only got stalked raped or abused.
I give up with men it's always the same result, every time I paid for speeds dating or match making service I saw the same abusive bstds on all. Don't waste your money or life time Hun, live free and stressless 🦋
I’ve been on most of the big name ones. What I’ve found is that, it depends. Different apps do differently in different areas. Google it and see if you can find some info on what works best for your city. Side note: can anyone tell me what tagged is about?
