Men are not motivated, don't want to work, don't want to learn and don't have friends - and whose fault is that?

Now that they're starting to experience equality in action (not true equality, but a semblance of it) and realise they actually have to better themselves and work hard just like anyone else, they feel wronged. They expect, as they always do, for aspiration to be served to them on a silver platter: "Ambition doesn't just happen. It has to be fired," - but it's not coming. We're done wiping your ass, so find your fucking motivation yourselves.

Written by a man. Go figure. If the whole system was really gamed to women' favor, we'd be seeing a majority women in professional roles, no?

good. let them rot. more men died of COVID? oh i wonder if that has anything to do with their negligence with their own health. because, you know, taking care of yourself is too feminine for a man. i once was seeing a guy who was a craftsman. he ran every morning and in one occasion he slipped and fell on his wrist. it was his dominant hand and it got swollen and hurt a lot. for days. it was difficult for him to keep up the work because of that injury. did he go to the doctor? no. it was literally his tool of work. he refused to to go to the doctor (i live in a country where we have free health services).

the article is right when it says "it's not that men don't have opportunities, it's that they're not taking them." they are lazy fucks who think too highly of themselves and are waiting for success to find them.

the loneliness is a result of misoginy and lack of commitment. the "bradwinner" thing isn't as strong as it used to be. many women are ok with 50/50. men want all the advantages of commitment without putting the work it requires adn even when women accept their bullshit, they eventually wake up and realize that they are better off alone because men are trash.

they need to stop being trash, that's all. it's not that hard.

The article gets a little too "oh, the poor menz, how they suffer."

But I give it some credit for acknowledging women as a class are making gains from working harder than men, not because the world is tilted in women's favour (it is not, but some men sure like to tell themselves that).

It's the fairest thing when people who work harder get more. It's good news to me that we're seeing more of that, when throughout much of history most women didn't get enough credit for their work, and men coasted off the backs of their labour.

The article falls just short of coming to the realization that "breadwinner men" had been propped up by women's free labour for much of history. Less and less women are willing to prop men up and pretend men are doing all the work, pretend women's contributions don't matter.

Men still feel entitled to women's free labour and flat out refuse to put in even nearly as much effort as women. That hadn't changed. More and more men are no longer being rewarded for that. That's what changed. That's why men are falling behind.

To stop falling behind, all men have to do is apply effort. Yet too many men would still rather sit around and bellyache instead of get off their ass and get shit done, the way women has always gotten shit done.

Its not that they can't its that they won't. Being a loving man is simp shit. Provided for your children is simp shit. Pulling up your boot straps and working hard is feminine now. Not intentionally getting a developmental disorder diagnosis = being held accountable for sociopathic behavior. I agree that nurturing and kindness should be instilled in boys but the thing is - it has been for like 30 years now. Once they hit puberty that shit is groomed out of them by media and fellow males and they lose the twinkle in their eyes. This is all each of their individual choices and not my problem. Extending my empathy fuels the fire/black hole.

So many things are wrong with this article I don't even know where to start.

Firstly, about the increase in employment - of course more women are employed now than in 1983. Did you know we only got the right to have our own credit card in 1974? Just because women have been 'catching up' in the last fifty years doesn't mean men are in crisis.

More men kill themselves, but whenever this statistic is cited it's always by an MRA who refuses to acknowledge that it's men's problem that men won't go to therapy; women attempt more often and with less violent means; and men usually commit suicide either in a murder-suicide after killing their domestic partner, or to escape conviction after they've been caught with CP or sexually assaulting a minor, etc.

I don't know about the editor-in-chief statistic, but you can easily prove that more men are in leadership roles in almost every profession, even the service ones he wants to whine about. Another men-created problem that they don't want to take on 'girly' roles (and a men-created problem that they'll pay us less when the field becomes dominated by women).

It's true that less men are enrolling in college than women, although the statistic is only slightly in favor of women, but he also never mentions the biggest, also male-made issue in this entire article: porn. Porn demotivates you, it slows and even halts brain development, and can even cause severe depression. More than 50% of divorces are initiated by women because their partner was addicted to porn - regardless of who was the "breadwinner". But men will not open their eyes, and this author is no exception. He mentions a bunch of BS about ambition and masculinity without ever mentioning that most boys (and men) these days are sitting at home, in front of the computer, sadly and aggressively jerking at their limp dick with no motivation to do anything else.

As far as women doing better with a single parent, or being more likely to better than situation - my thought is that women are more likely to want to help their family, so if their family is poor, they'll go to college to improve things for everybody. But this one is my opinion and not facts. I do know that a female fetus is more likely to survive a harsh pregnancy than a male one, and we are biologically hardwired to survive adversity, so it makes sense - men are weaker!

My reaction? GOOD. Welcome to the other side, fellas. Women have been getting overlooked and undervalued for centuries, and undeservedly so just because men enjoyed hogging all the power. So, BOO-HOO that you are waking up to the fact that women are no longer interested in catering to your mediocre asses. We have options, and you ain't them.

Am I missing something here? The society is still male-dominated is it not? Women have made some gains but there's a long way to go before we have equity. So I don't see any point writing an article about "men falling behind".

The author should have mentioned the porn issue and patriarchy.

I agree with the author that when men can't be providers they get demoralized. I think more men would have HVM potential but they are in jobs that do not pay enough to keep up with rising cost of living and providing. When men can't provide, they are more likely to look for casual situations. They are in survival mode and don't have any extra to give to a relationship.

I am intrigued by the thought of starting men a year later in schools. I could see that bridging the maturity gap. And helping girls thrive in school, since they will be surrounded by slightly more mature boys.

I would like more research done into why men are not taking advantage of opportunities and are less motivated. I think one reason could be the rise of single parent households. Most single parents are mothers, and boys after a certain age do not listen to or respect women. They learn from strong male father figures. If there is none in the house, I can see that having a more negative effect on a boy.

Maybe there have always been men that are not suited for the needs of white collar jobs. Like these men need to be outside chopping wood or doing something that is physical labor intensive. In the past they were able to work in factories, but now those job opportunities are almost gone, leaving a large class of men who for some reason cannot adapt to the new professional landscape. Just like there will always be men in jail who have imbalances in their hormones and brain chemistry causing them to not be fit for society.

It could also be patriarchy. Like men need women to be their inspiration and muse. But society has devalued woman and the joy men can get from providing for then.

Globally falling testosterone levels due to plastics could also play a role. These men do not have firm masculine traits, as evidenced by the rise of men who want to be taken care of.

Men did this to themselves through selective evolution, they tricked all the dumb women into prostitution or abusive relationships for centuries and now the only women left are smart and have healthy social instincts. I bet women are less likely to fall for online scams too.

There are two things here AT LEAST that I find ridiculous.

Sorry...you mean to tell me that the way we see boys is making them unable to have confidence in their abilities? Girls werent stopped by the lack of representation of women in power since the beginning of time. Or the constant brainwashing that we are weaker, dumber, only good for sex and basically a second class citizen. On top of that girls with disabilities like autism or ADHD arent even diagnosed most of the time, so they dont even know what they are dealing with.

Not only did that not stop us, we even came out on top!

I agree that there might be something wrong with boys and its incredibly important to figure out what it is but this is just once again evidence that girls are just...better? What is the point they are trying to make?

#2 I am TIRED of hearing "men feel bad because they have the pressure of being the breadwinner". Women have jobs! Moms have jobs!! Teenage girls even have jobs. Do they think all these women work for fun and not to PROVIDE?

I am in my early 20s and because of family issues me and my mom have to be the breadwinners of the family. Are money issues tough? Hell yes. Is it hard to constantly worry about your families financial security? More than you can imagine. Is this the hardest battle I have to fight? Not even close. I understand everyones circumstances are different but this argument is thrown around so much acting like its 1960. I dont know a woman that doesnt care just as much as her husband about her families financial situation, why are they acting like this is a male experience only? Also, didnt they just say that in 2014 most men lived with their parents? Where is the "breadwinner pressure" that is causing them a hard time?

I wonder if our attitudes toward men are trickling down to boys: society coddles them and provides all these hero narratives but cognitive dissonance is setting in super early because they just aren’t hacking it and being told the truth. Level up, my dudes, or get left behind! Adapt or die.

maybe Men need to learn to take care of themselves. Women learn early that they cannot count on any man to take care of them while men get taught how to manipulate women to take care of them. Which is why women are the ones who get the losing end of the deal if they mess with men. They have more money and empathy. They are literally more human than men. Apes go for sex and making noise for attention. men are becoming more like a bunch of masturbating primates every day.

i felt like it encapsulates Men. They make no sense. They would rather put more work into mastering “the art of not contributing” than just actually contributing to anything. Which would ironically be less work. They get off on burdening others.

When a woman has no friends and feels lonely, it's apparently her fault. But when it's a man it's society's fault.

I know this post is old but I grew up in poverty, abused , traumatized. I took myself out of those things with my bare hands. I've dated middle class men who got everything handed to them, playing DND every night at 8 pm and living with daddy till the age of 30, literally maintaining the same personality since the age of 14 ,not growing , improving or changing. Living as happy as a clam in a constant never ending state of hedonism.

I'll tell you what's wrong with men, they always get what they want, and what they want is always something stupid. Like inflation furry porn and a Nintendo switch. They don't long for adventures, new experiences or to one day be respected as a human being. They get to just sit there, marinating in ball stank while they burn the planet and while I, myself and many other women are just trying to get by and live a glorious fulfilling life with good careers and positive connections.

Why don't we question the value of males? They're literally happy, sitting there and doing the bare minimum. They'd happily be attached to tubes underground somewhere while I bust my ass off since childhood trying to live the good life. They don't want to go to college or work hard, they just want to nut. If you call their absolute bliss victimhood idk what to tell you. Even male lions know their place, and just because there's not a war happening every five minutes doesn't mean society is degenerating, if could mean that men were never on our level to begin with and all they're good for is nutting and killing. Good riddance. Patriarchy will start needing government assistance to keep itself afloat.
