I saw this tweet and I cannot believe an NYU professor is making excuses for undesirable ugly men basically becoming mass shooters.
If dating apps are so horrendous for ugly people in general, why do I not see women, especially women of color, going up and shooting people? Another quoted retweet said that if desirability politics was the reason for people to become mass shooters than you'd see a lot of Black women becoming them but you don't.
I'm quite sick and tired of men acting like they are owed sex and a relationship and if they do not get it, the onus falls on women to fuck them so they don't start killing people in masses.

They always make it out to be women being too picky, materialistic, and shallow when it's men failing to meet even the basic standards. There are women who don't care if you make only $60k a year or are ugly/bald/potbellied, but you still have to be a decent person before anyone is going to fuck you. How can you be a professor and still haven’t figured out the difference in mate selection between women and men? I figured this out at West Point when I was 18 years old as I watched the guys go down to Ike Hall to go “hogging” which was them trying to f*ck the fat girls who were bused in from the surrounding universities. Men will literally f*ck anything—from women they hate, women that are fat, other men, animals, glory holes, apple pies, and the list goes on. So online dating like Grindr is perfect for them, because it’s what men want. But women only have ONS with the best looking men that she can pull. Why on earth would a woman take all of the risk of her reputation, diseases, pregnancy, and her emotional trauma for an ugly man? If no relationship is possible, why would a woman settle for an ugly man? It makes NO sense at all. At least if she gets pregnant by the attractive male, the child has a better chance of being attractive. That’s a bit of consolation whilst she’s forced to raise the child alone. How men haven’t figured out that the old fashioned ways of courting and marriage ensured even ugly males had sex and a family are beyond me, and now they want to bitch some more because they’re not equally able to get hook up sex? Unreal. Think about how a woman might feel sometimes and what drives her mate selection. When protection and provision aren’t on the table, why would she bother to settle for an ugly man? Where’s the upside to it? Women aren’t pleased by random sex partners like men are. But if we’re forced to live in hook up society, we pick the best looking men to hook up with. Duh.
They aren't owed sex from ANYONE. No one is owed sex. At all. If ugly women aren't owed sex, then neither are ugly men. Single or not. Don't see us single ugly ladies out murdering people in masses. Fuck off. Also this professor is just making the argument that men are weak, emotional, regressive, violent, and entitled. And they keep living up to that argument.

Amia Srinivasan's a philosophy professor at Oxford who contends with this question and really looks into how desirability politics tends to embed racism by marginalizing black and brown women. She also looks into how they don't tend to use this fact as an excuse to shoot people up but also how people with predictable "preferences" for white and asian women should probably start seriously questioning their implicit racism.
Her take is far more interesting, nuanced, and less ham-fisted than this guy, which is probably why her credentials are so much better.
There is some sort of meh trans-inclusionary stuff (as if men pretending to be women and coopting their problems and spaces are remotely comparable to what women of colour go through) but she has to do that because of the pathetic political climate of academic philosophy.
People can reject others for any reason they want, and nobody deserves a relationship or sexual love. It’s an extra in life, not a right.
