Realized last night I've only ever known one high value male

:( Hope you're doing okay OP. Pet deaths hit harder than any breakup. I've honestly never felt the kind of boundless, trusting, and reciprocal love with a human the way I have with my cat. This is honestly the main reason I went vegan. There's just something special about animals.

To everyone who has liked or commented: you have no idea how much this has helped me. I haven't really been able to grieve as it is not socially acceptable to be outwardly distraught over an animal passing. Sharing his photo and having others acknowledge that it's okay to be sad has made a huge difference. You are kind and compassionate souls. Thank you.

I'm so sorry for your loss! I remember facing a family dog passing away a few years ago and the pain and the grief that came with it was brutal. Grew up with her ever since I was in elementary school... it really hurts to lose a fur friend like that. Your dog is so handsome!

He was gorgeous. Looks like a Belgian shepherd Groenendael - my fav breed. :)

I’m crying with you, OP. My sweetie passed this past August. He was with me through the most important years of my life. When he died, I suddenly got so much clarity and ended my engagement. And I’m so glad I did. I’m fortunate to have lots of space and was able to lay him to rest on my land. I can see his flowerbed from my kitchen window. Not only that — and I know this will sound INSANE but it’s 100% true — an angel came to me a couple of days before he died. And a couple of hours before he died he suddenly came back to life and was clearly looking at something behind and above my head as I held him on my chest. I knew the angels were coming for him. I know he’s in heaven and I’ll see him again!! Hugs to you.
