This must be one of my more random out there posts, but.... I've been wanting to lucid dream for a while now. I'm hoping it's a good way to practice stuff in a safe space, I've read up on a few things and whatnot (sadly no dice), but I wanted to hear you peoples’ experiences (a few tips would be nice too). Thanks in advance.

I'm prone to them. I can tell you this much but taking melatonin and tart cherry juice are both gonna give you some hella intense dreams. Make sure you keep a journal by your bedside to write down what you've dreamed about last night, too, so that you can recognize the signs that you are dreaming for another night.
Take this with a grain of salt, because despite trying for a month or so I was only able to get it to happen to me twice, but.... What helped me the most was the "Wake back to sleep" method, so maybe try looking that up. I also got a watch so I could time it to remind me to do reality checks every two hours or so, and that helped me "wake up" in the dream when I looked down at my wrist and realized I couldn't read the numbers. I also got a dream journal and I think that subconsciously makes you pay more attention to your dreams when you have them, because you write them down and think about them more. Anyway it was a lot of effort for a really cool experience! I loved flying around consciously. The hardest part for me when it happened was trying to stay asleep so I could enjoy it more haha. I probably tried to do way too much at once for a beginner. I wish it were easier to induce, so I could enjoy it more often.
I used to lucid dream a lot and sleep walk then developed night terrors for life so I sacrifice REM sleep to avoid dreaming lol. But heres what i know
Consume dairy before bed
About 30 minutes or more of no screens(just to get to sleep faster)
No marijuana in the evening
I'm unsure about alcohol, but no alcohol in the evening , just in case
Hahah so nice to see this here. I am also very interested in this stuff, so far I’ve had 3 of them with the Wake up Back to sleep method. Also an app called “Dream Catcher” helped me a lot at the begging. To motivate yourself I recommend LaBerge book. Happy dreams!
I used to get them a lot when I was a kid. My recommend is to absolutely bury yourself in the subject. Engage in trying some waking techniques (I would try the “look at your hands and say you are dreaming” at several points throughout the day. It’s all about it seeping into your subconscious and eventually manifesting in sleep. The “I’m dreaming” habit will follow you into dreams and you will trigger your own lucidity.
I wish I knew! I've only lucid dreamed maybe three times in my life and it's because I suddenly think okay this just seems a bit too outrageous. Most recently I was being hunted by a man in a big old house and when I realised he was on the floor above me I extended the house up about ten floors to separate us. I don't think it's given me any particularly insightful experiences 🥲
