In the US in the 1980s there were 200 estimated lesbian bars. Currently over 20 remain.
Factors: Acceptance of more open sexuality, availability of online dating, income of gay men vs lesbian women
A list of lesbian bars can be found at the Lesbian bar project
A NBC article about how the pandemic affected lesbian bars
Some Youtube videos on the subject:
I think we all know the main reason why lesbian and female only spaces are being erased. We’re all just scared of being doxxed and/or murdered if we call it out though.
I’m in Aus and we used to have lesbian nights at a bar every week on Wednesday, and Girlthing, a big lesbian event once a month. Now we have nothing, just gotta go to gay bars for some of the crowd. It’s depressing as a bisexual woman, bc on dating apps for wlw it’s 95% trans “women” and the other women are looking to experiment or find a third.
We all know why. The left will just cancel us for saying it tho.😉
This post makes me think about female only gyms are rare and quickly shut down. Somehow, female only gyms are more controversial. With "feminist" being triggered by the thought of a female only space because segregation of any kind gives them war flashbacks.
