An observation I've made as an Asian woman in a group of mostly Black women friends: There's a reason why a lot of Black women are actually against prison abolition and favor prison reform while men prefer anarchist ideas for solutions. Women are more in danger. There are real rapists and murderers in jail too. They have no place in society and are irredeemable. I agree the prison system is racist/classist and our government is fucked up in many ways, but anarchy as a whole would be catastrophic for women. We'd be getting raped even more than we already do.
Yeah, isn't it funny that the prison abolition gang is mostly made up of men? Whenever a group made up of mostly men want something, that thing ends up being bad for women. While I agree that prison for non violent offences like theft etc seems excessive and prison reform would be helpful, prisons are essential to contain violent men. We don't want these men on the streets and if the government won't institute the death penalty, they need to be in prison. I'd even argue that the sexual abusers should be castrated while kept in prison. Anyone who thinks prisons can be abolished is operating from a place of delusion or even worse, self-interest.
If you find prisons cruel bring back penal colonies. Choose a remote island, drop the felons there (segregated by gender of course) with what's needed to survive (but no means to leave) and let them figure out their own happy little society away from civilization. Let them all rape and murder each other for all I care. If they are truly redeemeable they will figure something out to cooperate there, if not, good riddance.
If you can't behave in a civilized society, you have no place there.
Yes, black female pickmes have been going around getting bail reform which has allowed many violent men to get out on bail or get arrested with no bail so they can get back on the street and hurt women. The prison system cannot be reformed until we get a real handle on male violence. With the left in American it’s like they’re always putting the cart before the horse. We can’t have a big sexual revolution until we get misogyny controlled. We cannot have a big prison reform until we get make violence under control. They skip to the last step and then when stuff doesn’t go right they have surprise pikachu face and point the finger at the right. The right is a console the shit show though so it works on liberal feminists easily.
Yes. And not only individual sex offenders are an insurmountable problem, but so are pimps and traffickers.
You don't stop organized crime with rehabilitation programs. They do it for the money. There is a huge economy of exploitation and you can bet they LOVE the prison abolition "useful idiots."
Fully against abolition. Some people are beyond redemption and cannot curb their anti social impulses. I find it quite unfortunate that some black women and SJWs have chosen to mule for black men to our own detriment but that’s a conversation for another day. There was a recent case of a man who was bailed and proceeded to murder his ex, a young black mother. Women in community with violent males face the highest risk. This is fact. Agitating for systems where they are not held accountable will further derail the community. It’s not misogynoir to point this out. It does not move society forward if we cannot have honest good faith conversations without resorting to identity politics. Even for white collar “none violent” crimes I prefer restitution for victims being prioritized, but I don’t think prison time should be out of the question. I believe it’s extremely sociopathic to dupe innocent hardworking people from their life savings. I always imagine it’s some struggling single mother who’s life’s work has been stolen. The US legal system is not without flaw, but a lot of these proponents haven’t critically and truthfully thought about the havoc these policies will wreak.
