This youtuber basically made a video saying why the new Marvel sucks and surprise, surprise, she blames the sudden casting of women and other diverse actors for the new lead roles. I cringed when she kept white knighting men saying that "women good, men bad!" Is marvel's new woke agenda.
I'm not really a Marvel fan since they made countless movies and tvs shows and I just got tired of watching the same thing over and over, but I don't really see the big issue in creating a different kind of marvel for this new phase if they wanted to. After all, they ARE transitioning from the previous heroes are they not? So what is the big deal in casting women as the lead roles?
Her main complaint was all the women characters. Not the writing, the directing, the pacing, the skill of the actors/actresses themselves, the world-building and cinematography. Then she sarcastically mentions that the woke mob thinks it's because people like her are mysoginistic while she is basically saying she is not. So why was her biggest complaint about the women leads? Lmao.
Also, has she not noticed how incompetent so many men these days are, just out in the wild? I guess art is imitating real life.
i was skeptical myself because captain marvel and scarlet witch were written very badly, to me, but i watched she-hulk's first episode last week and there was nothing wrong with she-hulk. they addressed the gender difference well with realistic explanations as to why she was the way she was. i'm now looking forward to the subsequent episodes to see how well they tackle the character.
that critic just wants to appeal to the comic book incels for clicks and views with a dash of male approval.
The only toxic part was how She-Hulk was still designed for the male gaze in a feminist movie. I don't buy her as a Hulk, buffer women characters like Luisa can still look appealing while making sense as a character with super strength. Even then the issue is not women, it's men who can't design/write convincing women characters (or it could be a upper management thing... It's probably a upper management thing). Personally, the series did not do it for me. Eh, I think it's the acting.
Okay, as an Indian, I think I spot a fellow Indian. Since I spent time in India, it's amazing to see how common it is for men to say "feminist cancer", and "spot the feminist!" As some kind of discussion or argument ending point. It's rare to the point of non-existence to find an Indian man in a comment section praising feminism or calling himself a feminist.
It's also extremely common to find Indian women say they care about equal rights but would not call themselves feminists because "men have issues too". It's so sad when women allow Misogynist men (think like Jordan peterson, ben shapiro, for example, who try to win people over) to basically dictate what feminism is or isn't (Indian men insist that feminism is caring about women over men, fighting for women's issues but not men's, so they try to dominate the conversation by saying we should all be "equalists", "humanist's", "egalitarians".)
All I can say is that when men in western or first world countries get fed up with feminism, they use countries like India as an example of why "privileged white women" have it so easy they don't know misogyny.
These men who go on to promote "humanism" get fully triggered when someone talks about ending sexist traditions, like giving the son his own room because he's a boy but never giving the daughter her own room because "she'll get her own room when she's married". So, your local Indian, "egalitarian" male will get so damn worked and be like there’s nothing sexist about that! Our traditions are great! There's a reason for everything!
Surprise, surprise. They don't get much backlash from Indian women. Impolite or fed up feminists get more backlash from Indian women (maybe because we are easier to overpower or stand up to).
Your average Indian woman's boyfriend is most likely a "humanist", an "equalist", who sees the "importance" of feminism but feels it needs to be questioned sometimes or straight up calls feminism cancer. This poor girlfriend, also calls herself a "humanist", because her boyfriend showed her all the radical feminists compilations.
She often finds herself teaching him basic human decency like "you and your sisters received different treatment growing up even if you didn't notice and felt you got treated the same".
"Humanists" like him just don't know anything is amiss in evironments where he is treated well but women & even lower class individuals are facing double standards. Humanists like him don't say anything when schools give drastically different dress codes to boys then girls, and boys basically wear whatever they want.
It's up to girls to convince the oblivious, male Humanists that they are treated unfairly and there is infact not a justification for it, until finally they coincide and agree with you (get ready to have your sexist experiences invalidated by a privileged male several times) How dare you call me a sexist! Just because I criticize feminism? I am a humanist!!! You are the sexist for being a feminist....you hate men.
Of course these men call out supposed "sexism" like a shark smelling blood in the water when something like the depp-heard child trial happens, or custody gets brought up, or child support gets brought up, or splitting checks for dates get brought up.
It's so much more common for Indian women to grow up to be like the video creater than a healthy well adjusted feminist who doesn't feel confused about feminism is because her even more ignorant older brother is getting in his feefees about it and "warning" her about it.
