I know someone that went from mormon to BDSM submission. This makes so much sense now. Thank you for a very good episode. I grew up in a strongly atheist family so this is new knowledge for me.
I think that you guys did a very fair podcast and I really appreciated people doing it who know the bible And what it says and who said it. I agree that church culture can be so toxic and the hyper fixation on submission that one person, who was not Jesus, and single, said. I swear it’s not welcomed at all but Paul came after Jesus and he said all this really demeaning stuff about submission. Also, Paul saying that people shouldn’t marry so they can just focus on God like he did but saying , well if you can’t control yourselves get married like WHAT? His writing sounds like he was just a self-congratulating narcissist. I feel the way Jesus acted was kind to women and then Paul comes along after Jesus and says women need to submit and be quiet in church.
I am a Christian and I basically stick to what Jesus said and ignore the rest because so much of it turns my stomach and makes me ill. The way Jesus acted to me was good character and treated women equal to men. Also was tough on men and didn’t coddle them which I appreciate. However The other books in the bible can’t vouch for.
Also the religious leaders hated Jesus and wanted him dead. He certainly was not saying everything was permissable, he was not a soft squishy guy, but he was not a religious, he was just.
“Sex is a binding experience that all the people you have slept with are going to be hoovering in your spirit for life”
That is the scariest thing to be convinced off. When I heard that online, I was like how do you get rid of the hoovering people? It’s just a mind fuck. Also some spiritual gurus still say things like that and are selling yoni eggs that you have to put in your vagina and all the dirt of your previous partner will purge.
There is nothing wrong with anyone’s body if you are living healthy because your body is rejuvenating constantly, and energy is changing constantly.
Yes, that concept is so damaging for any woman who has experienced assault. I get that they want all woman to stay virgins up until marrying for life so she doesn't have a clue how shit her hubby is in bed. It just tells how skewed their priorities are to comfort men in any and every possible way instead of caring for the bare minimum for women.
They have this thing where apparently the Bible says women are not allowed to become preachers. Growing up I never questioned it, the hierarchy was the way it was because "that's what it says in the Bible." It always bothered me then, when my teachers would teach us biblical values only to turn around and bully anyone who was different
Loved this episode! Insightful and respectful of our practicing religious FDSers and opened up a lot of views for me as somebody who was bought up and still is atheist.
Okay. I just finished the episode. I appreciate the fact that you guys were on point with most of the points and you all were still respectful of the women who still practiced (like myself). I will admit that I was privileged to not experience the trauma of church compared to a lot of folks because I had to attend two different churches and spent my time volunteering instead of being consistent. Since COVID is letting up, I am attending church in-person for the first time in two years. You all are on point about the demasculation of church. Most of the men that attend are married or old so I accept that I will probably not get married for the time being. Since I am able to support myself, I am less reliant on the church for resources. I tithe and help out when things are needed, but FDS has really made me cautions about the men in church and I am just vetting as much as I can. So far, so good. All in all, great episode 👏 And hope you guys can go a bit more into the church and if not, I still love listening to you podcast
I can’t wait to listen, and I am Christian. I luckily wasn’t brought up super into purity culture, but it does affect me. Anything sexual makes me feel dirty and ashamed. I do think there is immense value in being very selective and ruthless about who you choose as a sexual partner. However, I get very angry about slut shaking and dudes who are jealous that a woman moved faster with a previous partner before them. She can changer her mind. I am pro slut shaming men. A lot of men think it’s “high value” to have a side chick, mistress, sugar babies, multiple partners, cheat, or have slept with hundreds of women. I think it’s disgusting and degenerate. The family unit is precious. Bringing a “side chick” into the dynamic is low value. For example, my grandma still holds resentment to this day that her dad gave a bunch of money to his mistress when he died, and not to her. Her dad also loved the mistress more than his wife and kids. That trauma led to her having her own problems and drama in her life. I understand that the mistress was most likely financially dependent on him, and it would be wrong for him to just leave her homeless after death. But he could have completely avoided all this pain and drama if he just practiced sexual self control and didn't get a mistress in the first place.
Also every incident of polygamy in the Bible leads to family drama and pain. Isaac and Ishmael: to this day their descendants are still fighting, with Isaac representing Israel and Ishmael representing Palestine. King David’s kids were all a hot mess who were violent to each other and Solomon’s over 1,000 wives almost brought him to ruin. Those are just three examples.
Loooooved this episode!!!Y’all should listen to this video essay on one of the non-canonical gospels that didn’t make it to any Bible (The Acts of Paul). Don’t sound too much like the Paul of Tarsus we all know:
really enjoyed this podcast! I only recently started listening, and now Im going backwards listening to older episodes and Im really enjoying them and the ladies' insights.

Loved this episode. Religion has been a primary tool of the patriarchy for millennia. It's time to overthrow it for good.
