Y’all I was reading fanfiction and the forum had various stories where the writers had reimagined one character as a homeless man, an ex-convict, a current convict and the other character STILL fell in love with that character!!! These were popular fics too! YIKES I threw up in my mouth. I’m sure y’all have also seen fawning social media posts about a woman giving homeless men a date and a home.🤮
This is a good reminder that we shouldn’t seek validation for our beliefs and standards from society at large. Society at large would happily see us the mommy mc bangmaids to CONVICTs and HOMELESS MEN …… (and pickmes will be happy doing it!!) while telling us our standards are “too high”…. Our current culture is incredibly diseased. So if you listen to advice from those enmeshed in this culture, you’re gonna get terrible advice.
Most people are eating shit and telling you it’s delicious and that you shouldn’t expect a proper meal. If you start looking at the masses of people eating shit and start thinking maybe I should start doing it too…. here’s your reminder DON’T.
FDS advocates a path that diverges from the mainstream culture and it’s scary to be different, to reject what everyone else has normalised. It can also be lonely. But that’s the price of dignity and remaining happy and healthy.
As someone who was childfree from single digits, yes! And let me note that it takes some mighty strength of character to walk your own path, resist all of society’s thoughtless coercion and manipulation and do what’s right for you. Thank goodness for the internet and childfree listservs back in the 90s and on! They saved my sanity. Same now with FDS. No settling, bottom line.
I agree. Most people are invested in comfortable lies. Going against the current is considered gauche at best, a threat at worst. Connection and validation is far too important for most people to give up, even if it's wrong. They're too weak willed to stand with reality.
