Affordable High Value Gifts
Someone here posted about those awful drugstore bath sets that are essentially a rash in a bag.
I came up with a list of stuff that are thoughtful, meaningful, fun, and under $30.
Fancy soap: Etsy has a multitude of fancy stores where you can get bars of colorful and creative soap, often with a theme, such as Christmas or goth or deserts. 3 bars run for about $30 after shipping and taxes and they have an adorable homemade vibe. Luxury brands like Chanel sell a single bar of perfume soap for roughly $30 which I would love to get because it’s Chanel lol. I would let the perfume permeate my bathroom for a few months by leaving it out then actually use the soap
Handmade body sprays: Continuing on Etsy, you can find some very fun and creative body sprays for like $10-15. You can also go the bath and body works route for someone more basic or who likes BBW
A luxury lip balm, hand cream, mascara, or other cosmetic
A good moleskin or other quality notebook and a Starbucks gift card or fancy pen
An ice skating date or other winter activity with hot chocolate at the end
Print out pictures of you guys together and put it in an inexpensive photo album with notes about the various memories you share
A gift basket with your favorite candies/ snacks
Plushies like squishmallows
Toys like collectible dolls or pop figurines or legos or other things people collect or that represent her hobbies or interests
Books
A vintage something that she might like, like I like antique fashion magazines and would love to get one or two. Also some y2k brands are trendy again and are available on eBay. Also there are some beautiful vintage mirrors and whatnot on sale
Scented candles. Again Etsy has some nice ones but so does Voluspa and bath and body works
Colorful, fun, campy pijamas
Something monogrammed or with her name on it. I got my ex boyfriend a t shirt with his name on it for like $15 and he loved it
A gift card for a game she likes on her phone. These games are a waste of money BUT if you’re addicted to a game and get coins or something then that will help you advance fast. I wouldn’t spend $30 on myself on a game but if I got a gift card to advance in it I would enjoy advancing or getting a rare item
A t shirt or sweater from a movie, tv show, podcast, book, etc that you like
Luxury socks. Like smart wool or bombas. Yeah socks seems like a sad gift but these socks are so good. I buy like 1-2 pairs a month to stock up within budget because my cheap socks get saggy after a while and the more expensive ones last longer and are comfy. I if I got a couple pairs for free I would be happy.
ASK HER WHAT SHE WANTS and buy it
I came up with all this in like 5-10 minutes. A man can put in minimal effort to make you happy and get you something nice, even if he is poor.
Just don’t date him if he’s poor
Agree with the comment that said don't date him if he's poor. You're just not gonna have a good time with this guy overall if you always have to worry about money. A gift under $30 for someone who you're supposed to like /love and regulary get to bang for free is a joke. If he's going out with friends for a drink or has a hobby, I guarantee you he is already spending more than $30 on that.
It's a case of if he wanted to he would.
Let's assume we're talking about a birthday or Christmas.. People know well in advance when that date is and should save up, if they're poor. Which leads me to the first point.. Don't date him if he's poor.
Lol “rash in a bag” 😂
I don't understand using being broke as an excuse. Since when did men stop feeling ashamed of admitting being broke? I just can't 🤣
That’s a no for me 😂 I give people who are reporting to me gifts that are over $30.00. I wouldn’t expect the same from someone I’m seeing or dating or even my partner. No thanks.
Etsy has some nice stuff.
Money seems to matter so much to men. If they're gifting, I honestly feel it should hurt them a little or you don't mean much to them.
As an artsy person, I would love to get more handmade gifts. Granted, I hope that wouldn't be the only gift(s), unless a lot of effort was put into it. I've seen smiths made really cool rings, and painters make huge, lovely paintings. Even if the guy doesn't have a penchant for art, it's the time, effort, and thought put into a gift that makes them worthwhile. That's why my dad still keeps a mug I made with "DAD" etched into the side for father's day circa 200X.
High value does not equal expensive. But it also does not equal "basic but high quality". High value gifts are highly tailored to the recipient's tastes. Can you feel the effort that went into it? If no, it's not high value, even if the thing is objectively quite nice. If yes, it doesn't matter whether the thing is expensive or not.
These are nice gifts as stuffers along the main gift (if he's that bad with saving ahead of time, he has no impulse control) or as just because gift
Handmade gifts don't cost money but can mean the world. You can draw, paint, cook, heck even construct something out of lego and it would be such a touching gesture. Full of personal touch and thoughts. And also feels much better than receiving store bought handmade items :D
Homemade soaps are cheaper and even better. I’ve seen so many great tutorials on how to make bath bombs and soaps. Men who are cheap will neglect you in the long run. Stay away from them.
