Anyone else notice? I've been listening to the radio more and there are a disturbing amount of ads where the women are talking in very deep, raspy voices ... I'm talking to the point where they sound like they've been smoking multiple packs a day for several decades.
I've also noticed that women who announce it report for sports also tend to sound like that!
And on the contrary other women who do food ads and mattress ads have sounded like they are baby talking.
Why the hell is this (still) happening? I make a mental note for myself to not purchase from companies that have women do ads that obnoxiously.
We have to reduce her more into a cartoon level voice instead, we can't even take women seriously as a society yet.
Why can't a woman use her own, natural voice when speaking? It's one thing to speak loud, project, use annunciation and inflections as needed for effect, but the gruff smoker voices are ridiculous same with the high pitch cutsey baby talk.
I'm really sick and tired of hearing it. And with the stuff I've heard, it's not their normal voice they're talking specifically to sound like that.
Interesting. There have been many studies done on womens’ success and lower voices. Men and women perceive high voices in women as “not to be taken seriously,” and lower voices as more respectable.
When I learned this, I intentionally began lowering my voice when I speak. It works.
Society hates women and feminine things - even our natural voices. While I hate this truth, I will use every tool in the box in order to succeed - and we all should.
