Saw someone comment on tiktok to use spray paint as that would be effective and also would help police identify the perp later.
another thing with spray paint is if you carry a sketch book with you you’d have reasonable cause to carry it with you cuz you had it with you for art and not to use as a weapon against anyone. Since in Canada we are not allowed to carry anything for self defense so ppl get around that law by carrying a dog spray for “dogs.”
Anyone have any other tips to stay safe in places where they have awful self defense laws?
(for example the guy who shot a burglar to protect his mother got charged with murder)

spray paint is smart!
Hair spray, Umbrellas. You can use those without getting in trouble. Carry a pen or a long key to stab an attacker. Or sharp pencil.
Speaking of self defence this Should be off Youtube. https://youtu.be/GRosPMyotj4
Why don't they change the law, so that women could carry whichever gun they choose, but it would be criminal offense for men
I can’t believe this is a real law in Canada too?? my taser and mace has gotten me out of some sketchy situations. I guess I’ll reconsider moving there
How about bug or bear spray, a walking cane, leatherman multi-tool, a metal hair pick, bottle opener keychain, Mace Alarm keychain, a metal keepsake pen. Put your keys on a strong lanyard and use it like a whip.
Do a search for discreet self defense items. There are some very clever ideas out there, like a metal water bottle with a cap that has a point on it. There are even hair clips with little saw blades on one side, to aid in escaping. What’s the penalty for carrying a stun gun? It might be worth it in some scenarios.
Carrier of coyote spray here 🙋♀️
I think my flask is ideal. It's clearly not supposed to be a weapon but it is made out of metal, is light enough for me to swing and heavy enough to cause some damage
Nordic walking poles with sharp points like on ski poles. Actually prevent you from being attacked in the first place.
Stick handle handbag. I'll try to find a photo, but it's basically a purse woven over two long stick handles.
Purses with metal edges. I've seen a little going out purse all made from brass in Indian store.
Boots with heavy sole in the front like Doc Martens.
