Scrolling on YouTube shorts I came across a story of a woman named Christine Chubbuck. She was a new reporter in the 70s who committed suicide on live television after a long battle with depression.
I listened to a few short documentaries on her and I believe she's had some sort of undiagnosed neurodivergence. She couldn't connect with others, was very lonely, and was extremely self critical.
Not surprisingly, I came across some very disrespectful comments towards Christine. People assumed that she killed herself because she couldn't get/never had a boyfriend and had issues with her ovaries that made her have a limit on her fertility.
I'm completely disgusted that people chalked this Chritine's pain, quiet suffering, and ultimately her death to being a virgin and never going on a date. I saw men jokingly calling her the "og femcel". This woman was not a incel.
She clearly had other issues going on. I'm not exactly sure what but based on what I read I suspect she might be on the spectrum and others came to the same conclusion as me. Nearly every time on reddit I see someone venting their frustrations about never being able to understand people and constantly being ostracized, it turns out they were autistic.
Christine was extremely beautiful. She could've had many suitors. But she couldn't connect with people. Her coworkers said that she actually would distance herself from people who gave her compliments. It did not help that BOTH of her parents died when she was pretty young.
Mental health care was not as good as it is now, back then (and we still have our ways to go). Women's mental health has always been dismissed and mocked. It is awful no one was able to to save Christine in time. Hopefully she's resting in a better place and I hope people will take her and other examples of suicide seriously. Depression is no joke.
RIP Christine Chubbuck
There are movie about her, called 'Christine' with Rebecca Hall, I liked it. You can check it if you're interested
Honestly probably projection on mens part bc they’re parasitic look at incels.
