This dynamic still prevails today when a coloured person tries so speak up against a white women’s racist behaviour and she starts to cry because she is offended, nothing the coloured person says anymore matters. No coloured grievance is deep enough to match white women’s tears. This is a form of power.
Interesting that you mentioned this because just recently a white woman gets harrased by a bunch black dudes and what does she get when she defends herself? She gets branded as a racist Karen, gets a huge backlash and loses her reputation all because she was perceived as an evil white woman with white supremacy:
I also remember reading a comment a while back that belonged to an FDSer about how she got harassed by a black dude but she was afraid to report it because she didn't want to be seen as racist...the slur "karen" is being weponized against white women and I see a pandemic of women fearing to speak up against harrasment by males of colos due to the fear of being branded as racist...it got pretty fucked up so I don't know what the fuck y'all are talking about when you say white women of TODAY are privileged or have power over males of color
You do know that these things occur precisely because of decades of systemic racism? And the misogynistic slur “Karen” came into existence precisely because of white women and their tendency to get their way when they scream… yea it is misogynistic but the example you give me are mostly proving my point: it’s cause and effect now. A lot of things have gone unchecked in the past and now we live in an age of overcorrecting and hyper awareness. At least when it comes to race (since that affects men).
I can give multiple current examples of white women losing their minds over coloured people simply existing. That being said, those examples are all from the US. I am guessing from your example that you are as well. I’m from Europe. It’s not as mindblowing bad over here.
(White) women being left unprotected against men of colour because everyone is shitting their pants now for being called ”racist” is a reality.
But so is the abuse of minorities and especially women of colour due to intersectionality.
Without male privilege, misogyny would not exist.
Without white privilege, racism wouldn’t exist.
Etc.
Privilege absolutely exists and we both have it! Denying this is what keeps these systems in place.
I am not white but this sort of "intersectional" feminism is always annoying and completely misses the point the original theorist of the concept had made. I am brown and I always feel very enraged when someone dismisses my collective, cultural experiences, so it must be really irritating to deal with such awful 'leftist' takes.
I’ve heard this too! I’ve also heard of horseshoe theory where it’s similar but it’s basically the far right and far left have more in common with each other than other places on the policial spectrum.
I used to hear both and think it was crazy. But now that I follow things more , it’s 100% correct
Yeah it's not the 'left' . It's woke-ism. which is about band-wagoning and mindless virtue signaling, vs actual concern (for any minorities, race/sex etc). The way I see the right is they'll do/say anything so long as it supports the white conservative male. Their support or 'ally-ship' for anything is conditional on that.
Reminds me of a comment I saw where someone said white women haven't EVER been oppressed. Whiteness does not protect women from our oppression!
The left? I don’t get the connection. How does the right see it?
