I'm a South Asian woman and I gotta disagree. Unfortunately, my culture has some of the worst pickmes. And the reason why they favour male children is because they are pickmes, not for the reason you said.
Totally! They've all been taking advantage of whatever's been the prevailing zeitgeist across history. Their benefit first, others' comes second. I've worked with some Western men, and have felt grossed out for the same reason you mentioned.
No one called white women stupid. You wanted the slightest provocation to unleash your disgusting mind on the forum. Hiding behind 'Unknown member' because you're a coward too is hilarious.

Yes of course, Middle Eastern and north African women (Muslims) are way smarter than American women. You can tell by their literacy rates, those fashionable veils they wear, the rape laws and reproductive rights in those locations, and the way all of the women there have agency, independence, and do whatever they want all day long, going around with their mutilated genitals and all. Yes yes of course.
White girls from Kansas in sororities aren't vapid. Did your rapist, child molesting husband, father, brothers, and uncles give you permission to think these thoughts?
One thing western women do know is that western men indeed suck, but men from MENA and south Asia suck more.
I don't understand the flex.
Troll post, or needlessly and stupidly divisive at best.
Idk to what's extent it's a privilege. I guess it can work in your favour by making one seek out educational and career opportunities to improve their lot. But it does produce a lot of cognitive dissonance which can lead to mental health issues. At least that's my experience with cultural trauma of this type.
I don't think it's naivety as much as Western cultures brainwashing white women into giving men a chance to degrees many more conservative cultures would not, overiding a woman's innate ability to judge a situation herself.
ALL cultures have their own versions of pickmeism, ranging from what's been normalised to extreme pickmeism. The real differences seem to lie in when and in what context these behaviours are exhibited. For example, you'd never get an Asian woman agreeing to all male housemates yet I've come across several White women who do and it's some strange trope. It absolutely increases your chance of SA. On the hand, you'd never get a White woman falling all over herself in order to serve her husband's family right after she gets married. It absolutely increases your chances of emotional abuse.
A lot of these differences are cultural pickmeism that women find difficult to shed. I think that with Western cultures, it's louder from the liberal angle described above, like women choose to be this way; but in Eastern cutures, it's more muted and although it just seems like overt subjugation, it is very much also apparent.
Do women in more repressed cultures catch on more quickly? In some ways, yes, and yet it leaves them vulnerable in some unique ways. In Western cultures, women do have far better a chance at seeing men for what they are and choosing to live life on their terms with far more resources, but many still choose to be pickmes. Having said that, undoing what you grew up with takes a lonnng time and women in Western cultures have their own unique set of vulnerabilities to overcome.

Yup it's just 50 shades of scrote out here. Find your flavour and learn the others. Because assuming people will treat you better based on race alone is not gonna help women at all.
It really helps when you don't have a racial preference and aren't racist 👏 There are wonderful people and awful people of all races, all cultures and in all parts of the world. Some hide it better. The way the politics in the US has been rapidly changing should give some indication of how even your most educated white person sitting next to you in your masters class is still wanting to make it so you can't abort a rapist's baby. Bizarre world we live in. I just wish women everywhere had the money and resources we have in the West.
Eh, idk. Sounds a little noble savage-y. Maybe these women are a lot less delusional about supposed "men's nature" (sue me but I still believe socialization does play a role) because they have next to no meaningful protections against men's worst behaviors? Of course it's easier to believe that things aren't that bad actually when... they are comparatively better than elsewhere. Of course female liberation in the West still has a long way to go but we can't deny that women from some "third world" countries in this world would kill to have a fraction of the freedoms we have.
Thanks for your perspective. I've met my fair share of women who uphold the patriarchy, too. My family is originally not from Asia, but from a very patriarchal and poverty-stricken region. My female relatives are all somewhat aware of the inherent injustice in the gender roles they grew up with, and all of them suffered severe abuse at the hands of men. But they still defend them. This is most appalling in my own mother, and I only recently realized how much that framing has impacted me and led me to choose and make excuses for shitty men too.
Yes, trauma makes you less naive. And I think Muslim and south Asian women are filled with trauma and have seen nasty shit since they were children. When growing up that way you can sniff out sus behaviour from a mile.
Men from all cultures hate women equally, but I do think western men hide it better.
Maybe this leaves more room for western women to be naive as a coping mechanism for a horrible reality (pick me at its core). But at the same time radical feminism originated in the west (Britain?), which is the absolute opposite of being naive imo.
I think the difference is that more women "accept" their fate with men in other countries. Especially the older generations of women. So they'll say it's their nature to save themselves the disappointment.
Edit: for american or western women, I think they are barely realizing men don't actually care for women.
Having lived in the Middle East for 4 years, and with close Muslim friends, I can say that internalized misogyny is very strong among women. They’ve been brainwashed to believe that “god” demands their subservience to men, that their bodies are evil and must be covered, and there is real social pressure to be a SAHM and wear the hijab. They don’t acknowledge the patriarchal nature of Islam AT ALL, completely accept the concepts of the uncleanness of their periods, and praying separately from men because of the “temptation.” It’s pretty gross.
There is an economic imperative for men to provide, and for women to remain virginal until marriage. Therefore, all young men are treated with suspicion, and families vet potential suitors. Women and men don’t mix socially anyway, so everything is done under the watchful family eye. Basically, any person not in your family circle or social class is suspicious (men and women).
Men are revered, especially as they are very affectionate fathers. Women are honored in their way as well, especially if they are keepers at home, and wear the hijab after marriage. There is very strong cultural pride, and people seem resistant to the idea of women’s rights, feminism, and the concept of patriarchy. The education system doesn’t encourage critical thinking either, so where change would come from, I do not know. Pro-male ideas are deeply entrenched.
I’ve tried to introduce feminist views at times (eg my body isn’t evil or immodest) - but it’s like I’m speaking a foreign language. Men are good. Women must be controlled.
So, in summary I’d say that suspicion of men is reserved for young flirts who would endanger a woman’s purity. Boy children are preferred, but this is slowly changing and I’ve seen wealthier families push their girls toward education and success.
I can’t imagine a Muslim woman expressing distrust or disdain for any man, especially not a man in her social or family circle. It just wouldn’t happen.
