Did anyone else notice how there are almost no headlines stating genders of both the perpetrator and the victims? Almost as if they try to distract from the obvious, that it's just the usual thing: a man assaulting women. There is also some weird fixation on the nationality. I understand why the US News fixate on nationality, but people in the comments latch onto nationality or race and shift the focus from the simple reality of a man assaulting women (as usual).
It pisses me off so much! This is such a denial of the reality and shifting the blame to nationality and racism from the same old misogyny and shitty male nature!
The German news articles all have the genders in the headlines but its easier because German is a gendered language...
I think the nationality is important here, though. A US citizen specifically targeting women from the US abroad is different than a local attacking tourists at random. There were thousands of women there that day but he chose to attack two from his home country.
I for one hope they extradite him to the US and he gets the death penalty there. If he gets sentenced in Germany he'll be back on the streets in 10 years at most.
They do the same thing with race, too. You gotta remember the media is owned by rich white males who have certain agendas to push.
