The reason I say Islam is because I belong to this religion (by law though), I do not think that you can seperate culture from religion if said religion contains heavy misogyny and views a rapist pedophile warlord as the perfect example of a human being.

The principals of self respect, self love, and not accepting less than what you're worth apply to all women from all cultures. Many organised religions are patriarchal and devalue women. If you've experienced misogyny and low-value behaviour from men through the cultural lens of Islam, that's something you have every right to talk about and seek support for.
Many religions are very patriarchal and misogynistic, including Islam and Christianity. As you level up, if any ideology doesn't build up your self worth, self love and dreams for yourself; ask yourself if that ideology (including religion) is worth sticking to. It's how I ended up an atheist, coming from a fundamental Christian background.
Misogyny loves to hide behind religion. All religions should be held accountable for how its fairer sex is treated (child or woman).
I think this is going to be the toughest battle we will end up having with liberal feminism in the long run. For 2 reasons-
First, xenophobia pretty much just as massive of a problem as misogyny, and diversity/cultural competency is just as necessary as feminism. So it’s going to be hard for people to notice a very subtle but very important difference in regards to timing. I think of it like the order of operations rule in math. If you have an equation that requires both addition and multiplication, you have to know which operation to do first in order to get the correct answer. And in our case it must be feminism first. If we have diversity taking precedent over feminism then it will be a hollow phony diversity that will be manipulated to extend the life of the patriarchy and corrupt power hungry men will destroy any benefits that diversity could have brought about. It is the same with Marxism. The reason communism never did any good for people in Russia and China is because they did it before feminism and so it was corrupted by evil selfish men. Once we have a culture of radical feminism, then we would be able to follow our women leaders to a future that minimizes xenophobia and classism in real ways that lessen human suffering all around. And the reason it would work is because corruption, hate, deceitfulness, and all the other masculine qualities of destruction, are all much more prevalent in men than they are in women.
Secondly, the most spiritual experience human beings ever get to have does not come from prayer or listening to clergy speak in a house of worship, but rather, it is the experience of love between a mother and her baby, especially during the very first two weeks after giving birth. All spiritual feeling in our minds stems from the power of that early maternal love. And not only that, but the twin of spiritual experience is our desire to be good people, to help others, to be honest, and to live up to our responsibilities, and all these motives that fall under the rubric of morality are also initially created by the loving bond between mother and baby. Thats why I think feminism in religion will eventually lead us back to spiritual beliefs and practices that resemble more the religions of indigenous cultures, because patriarchy has less destructive influence in those cultures. Whereas in all organized religions that have acquired great power and wealth, patriarchy has those religions in a death grip. God is not a man. God is a mother’s live for her newborn baby.
I certainly don't. I don't fight against my own version of religious fundamentalists every single day just to tolerate bullshit from fanatics of another religion because some posmo "cultural relativism" bullshit. And I'll die on this hill
