Or is it me?!?!
Celebrity male DV crimes are seriously coming out of the woodwork all of a sudden (UK) Really makes me wanna throw it in the faces of those who always argue that ‘men go through abuse too and the statistical data doesnt include the men who are too ashamed to come forward. So we can’t say women are more victimised than men’!!!….Yep those ones!! Here’s hoping others will start to wake up too if anything.
Conversely, the bad side could be that the media has started to find ways to profit from DV. Adding to women’s anguish and lack of safety. As much as we want these perpetrators named and shamed. The victims will have to endure further abuse which could be heightened with the exposure.
And they wonder why women hate men.
It can be argued that a precedent has been set by Depp’s case. Abusers now have legal grounds to argue that their victims are defaming them. Prepare for the shitshow ahead. It won’t last long though, it’s not legally practical. Something similar happened a while ago around libel and DV matters, I can’t recall exactly, but essentially that it was unsustainable to proceed with libel claims in matters of domestic and sexual violence. Depp had the money for it, but the average male abuser does not. There is no humanity in media though, whatever makes money will be reported. Celebrity gossip always makes big bucks because there are too many idiots willing to consume that sort of media. This sounds dark, but I don’t blame the media, they’re just a reflection of what the general population wants. I suggest avoiding sources of media that are clearly targeted for the smooth-brained. I control what I consume, otherwise I am angry all the time because society.
Honestly, I don’t care about men being abused by other men. We have our own problems. This is what happens after cancerous pieces of garbage like Johnny Depp vow to humiliate and degrade women on an international level, while handmaidens applaud him and kneel at his feet
It's Johnny Depp winning his case and all the women on his side. Brad Pitt already hired the man who did Depp's PR and getting public opinion on his side
It's just coming to lime light. It has always been high.
I think it has always been an issue and so glad these women are speaking up! Power to my sisters!
It's not rising. It's just being covered more by the media and more women are speaking out about it, because we know that the court of public opinion is the only way to get a sliver of justice. And even then it's a risk because the public still buys into patriarchal violence and norms.
