I stopped OLD in August 2021. It will be 3 years in August. After this time, I've gained some clarity and can finally talk about my experiences.
I couldn't handle the back-to-back failures and rejection. I wasn't healing and processing these failures correctly.
My last date was in August 2021 when I ultimately decided that I had enough after a really bad date. I could not bring myself to date another guy through OLD.
The guy and I agreed to meet downtown at around noonish for food. There was no food involved as he took me to a bar and proceeded to get drunk. I don't drink so I watched him get wasted. I usually set a one hour time limit for dates, but I couldn't get passed 30 minutes. I remembered him drinking two cans of beer, and two fancy liquors. He let out a gnarly belch and I caught a whiff of it and decided it was time to go home.
Upon telling him of my departure, he got mad and asked me what was the purpose of this date. I told him I just wanted to see who he was in person. At some point, he wanted to show me his place. He lived really close by and asked if wanted to see his place. I told him that I was going to take the subway home. He offered to drive me since he was going to go camping with his friends, and was headed in that direction. I countered and said that he was drunk. He offered to call an Uber, but I still declined. Clearly he just wanted me at his place to hook up.
It took me a while to get over this experience. I started dating very late, so I was naive and idk why he would treat as such. Now that I'm older and wiser, I understand that he's a loser who doesn't have game. I'm offended that he thinks that I'd have sex with him just after meeting him. As if. 🥴🙄
I've been off the app. On average, I meet a guy every 3-4 months and I go on dates with them. In short, it's more manageable for me. Right now, I don't have any thing planned date wise, because it's too cold 🥶 to be dating outside. I'm actually going back to school for a semester for a pay raise in my career. That should keep me busy until spring.
Thank you for sharing this. I've been off OLD for about a year now, and I too have no desire to return. The thought of it makes me ill. The quality of men was so low I can't believe I used to put myself through it.
I'm interested in to know where you meet men every 3-4 months. I don't meet single men anywhere!
I'm impressed you're able to find a man you would like to go on dates with every 3-4 months. I'm in my late 30s, and all the men I encounter in real life are either married or LV. All of them. Single men my age are single for a good reason.
Wow that was creepy. Sounds like he wanted to make you drunk and then take you to his home so that he could sexually assault you.
I stopped OLD and feel much better too. Aside from the fact that I recently surprisingly got successfully matched with a family friend; a fulfilling life is much more pleasant to deal with compared to dodging scrotes. During my hiatus I focused more on my business and self care/glow up rituals.
