So when I first started I was told I would get a $1 raise in 2 months mark and then another $1 raise in the 6 months mark. I got my $1 raise, 2 months in. It's now 6 months in and I was now told I would get the $1 raise at 9 months mark instead. I'm a little bummed out, I do really well and get things done around. Always being told how im keeping everything afloat and hearing I didnt get th $1 just lowered my morale, as I'm always going above and beyond.
Not sure how to feel :(
It's only $1 lol but I'm just more bummed because I thought given my work and what im bringing, it would be fine. I keep getting told how great of an addition I am and I'm keeping the company on track but as nice as words are, I just feel a little under-appreciated. It's a nice company with good coworkers and I get to go on work trips that they pay for but also I feel odd that they decided to change the $1 raise for 9months
An advice from someone who works in the corporate world is whenever any company mentions giving you a promotion or a salary, ask them to provide that in writing signed and approved by your leader and HR. I treat my work relationship like my friendships. If it’s a one sided relationship with no reciprocation, I start looking else where and every time I was able to make much more money. Whenever a company doesn’t see your worth and efforts, it’s time to leave. Listen to the podcast Women At Work by Harvard business review. Don’t sell yourself short.
Unfortunately nice words don't pay the mortgage or keep food in the fridge.
Apply the FDS lens to your job: ignore every word they tell you and look at their actions. They lied, have money in their pocket that should be yours and are giving you the run around. If they wanted to give you a raise, they would have.
Instead, they chose to move the goalpost and offer you words. They are not reciprocating the effort and energy you are putting into the job. You're going above and beyond and they're not honouring their agreement to you.
Had I been in your shoes, I would have felt disrespected and that they broke my trust. Time to start job hunting.
