I’ve been working for this small company as an independant contractor part time remotely for the past year. I get paid hourly, while other staff get paid a certain amount monthly (not hourly for them) not sure how they’re getting paid in December.
This December 2023 we had the last week off and I thought this would be paid time off. However my boss emailed today saying there was a misunderstanding after I sent my invoice because the last week of December is unpaid time off.
However last year it was paid time off for the last week of December 2022. I’m honestly a little upset lol, I feel like they’re trying to save every penny for the business and not the employees.
Is this Normal??
In my experience being paid hourly as a contractor, you don't get paid time off. It was lucky you got it last year, but it's very rare
As an independant contractor, check your contract. It probably says you get paid for the hours you work. I had to fund my own holidays
