Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm currently employed but actively searching for a new job, and have a third round interview this week with a promising company.
I've "communicated" with my current employer about my workload, and answered their questions honestly when they've asked for feedback on their culture (the company has a retention problem).
Anyway, if/when I get an offer with another company, my initial thought it to treat my current employer as I would a boyfriend that I'm dumping FDS style. I want to say something to the effect of "I'm looking to broaden my experience...". with no further explanation about the laundry list of whys.
I feel that further communication would fall on deaf ears, what are your thoughts? Have you experienced this in your workplace? How did you manage your resignation when switching companies?
Thank you!
Always leave on good terms.
Thank you, both. I'll do that đ
Don't give them a laundry list of grievances, just tell you got a better opportunity and offer. Say as little as possible.
I donât think you should fall on the sword here. Donât complain as titillating as that option is. Just use vague terms about you exploring a âbetter fitâ âaligned with personal development goalsâ. You want to leave room for a positive reference down the line
