I never completed any degree when I was taking classes, but I have a lot of college credits. I was speaking with admissions counselor. I am trying to transition into Tech field within healthcare since that is where most of my experience comes from. I am very nervous because my couple years of experience in college were very poverty/trauma filled.
I'm not telling anyone in my family because that was a source of trauma when I was pursuing my education. I just don't think wanting an education for myself should have to include all the drama of my family putting stressors on me.
Anyways, anyone have any advice for doing a degree 100% online? I did not want to attend any in-person college or lectures. So over that. Can't imagine how the college and uni field have changed now with so many scrotes having much sway and negative influence in academia. I wanted to put maximum distance between me and the male species when it comes to academics. Not all of them were bad when I was attending college though I had great male peers that were students and we had great study sessions. Just the professors and those in power had bad attitudes I didn't like. I just feel like I have more control over online interactions.
Also this is not the cheapest route for me but if I'm going to dump money into a life venture it might as well be my education. I "should" be attending community college to take courses but that's just not an option for me anymore. My nearest CC is some odd miles away, my car is in good shape but future maintenance relies on either me or more often any male mechanic. And I'm just not waiting around for that anymore.
Is there anything blatantly obvious I should be considering when pursuing my education again? Online? Anyone know if there's are work-study programs for private unis? How to get foot in door? Thanks in advanced. I always see my notifications if anyone answers :) edit: my formatting was awful.
If you have a lot of college credits can you turn those into a qualification? I have just been negotiating with my uni for them to award me a diploma for my old units… here a diploma is worth 8 units, an associate degree is 16 units and a full degree is 24+ depending on the course.
They gave me one dip for my most recent degree attempt, that was easy; and then just recently another dip for my older units and implied that they were considering granting another dip for another bunch. I’m not so bothered about the final dip, but it would be nice.
I personally prefer face-to-face tutorials and online lectures. I find online tutes so uncomfortable and lacking in easy interaction.
Nothing wrong with 100% online degree, although you may have to attend some intensives/pracs* depending on what you’re studying. You just need motivation.
My primary advice is to ask for recognition of prior learning, or whatever it is called where you live - this will reduce the amount of study you have to do this time.
