Manhwas are Korean comics (with English translations) that you can read for free on webtoons.com or after searching for them online. They helped me through most of my dark teenage years, and reading them is still one of my favorite hobbies. That said, here are my favorite manhwas (a golden list because of how selective I made it) with badass female main characters. Everybody here can learn many lessons from reading these manhwas (click on the titles for the links to read the stories):
-"Your Throne" with badass main character Medea Solon
-"Remarried Empress" with badass main character Navier Trovi
-"Unholy Blood" with badass main character Hayan Park
-"I’m a Martial Art Villainess but I’m the Strongest!" with badass main character Haewon Dang
-"Girl's of the Wild's" with badass main characters Queen (although unfortunately the women in this webtoon are sexualized through the male gaze sometimes, which can be triggering -- the artists and/or authors are men, if I remember correctly) and Moon(?) don't remember since I read this years ago but it's still a ride for sure
-"Get Schooled" with badass deuteragonist Hanlim Lim
**Bonus for "Akatsuki no Yona" or "Yona of the Dawn," a manga (Japanese comic) that is ADDICTING and has such great character evolution for archery goddess Yona
The depth of malice is a good one too , FDSers could learn lots from the main character.
Oh nice! Always looking for more badass women in media!
I've recently gotten into Female led Isekai genre where the protagonist starts taking control of her life by rejecting the players and garbage elements of her life, making new genuine friends and learning new skills that level her up. All using hindsight of her previous life.
It is satisfying af ✨️✨️
I loved every single one.
For Korean-speaking FDSers, I recommend B의 일기 (B's diary). The protagonist is a young woman who's engaged to a scrote, nine years her senior. She has misgivings about the relationship, but she can't identify what's wrong. Then she befriends a feminist who has "escaped the corset."
I haven't found the English translations, but I translated a couple snippets myself>>
(The feminist who has rejected beauty norms is talking with the budding feminist protagonist)
But I don't want to say that.
Strangely, women prize compliments of their beauty over compliments of their efforts, career, drive, skills... they're all ignored and "that pretty girl?" is all that matters.
That's why I hesitate to say that you're pretty.
(The protagonist is facing her mother. Her mother, a more traditional Korean woman, is saying "you..." The protagonist is questioning gender roles and voicing doubts about if she wants to get married, and that causes friction with her family.)
Boys, be ambitious. (this is a famous quote)
Men, starting at age 40, men seek power and honor, whereas women…
fleeting physical beauty?
As You Wish, Prince! Is literally perfect too
