I just started reading it, and so far it's been an interesting experience.
The writing is a good balance of satire and harsh realities, and its principles so far seem FDS-aligned.
Is there something I should watch out for? Maybe advice I shouldn't heed?
I gave "The Rules" a try, but I couldn't get past the weird "be pretty, feminine and dress to impress men" advice. It's a book that hasn't aged so well, I believe.
Given that "Why Men Love Bitches" is from 2 decades ago already, is there any outdated advice in there?
And in that regard, what other FDS-aligned books do you guys recommend? I'm open to anything, dating-related or not. 4th wave feminism literature would also be welcome!
Also "sis, don't settle"
If you can get past the "look pretty and wear short skirts" parts, the Rules gives foundational advice, it's the FDS of the 90s
Why men marry bitches (the sequel) is also really good in my opinion
I actually made a thread or two about this book. There were some sections that were outdated, such as her examples of men's common phrases that do fit the definition of actual gaslighting. Back then these quotes were probably a men just being men thing, I think in 2022 though this would be called what it is - it's gaslighting. I am referring to one chapter in the book, it was a page full of quotes that men might say.
It is a really thought provoking book, I have mixed feelings about it however because the behaviors by men she is talking about in this book seem like LVM behaviors. Also she does not really account for the harsh reality in some relationshsips. You can be as much of a "bitch" as you want and it will not make a male partner suddenly change and become obsessed with you again. It's time to hold LVMs accountable for being shitty in relationships rather than telling women to change their behavior. It is usually a hopeless pursuit if you are in a relationship and your male partner has pulled back. However it is good as general dating advice for those early talking phases and inspires confidence for women.
still can't look past the usage of "bitches" in the title. how's the actual content?
It's a book for pick mes who don't wanna seem desperate.
