If you didn't know, Our website is now available via the Wix app for iPhone and Android! For those of you currently using the App, what kinds of features would you like to see added to make it easier to use?
Download and use the code "WZBOVG" to join (on the app!). If you are not registered yet, your unique 9-digit code will still be required; please consult this link to request one.
Thank you!
The request link for the nine-digit code goes to an error page. Is "registered" something separate than our registration to log into this website?
I wish FDS had not committed to the Wix platform. The Wix execution of the Forum section is way too incidental for a site where the forum posts predominate.
I am on Android, not iPhone, and the Wix text editor routinely "eats" paragraphs when I am writing a longer post: it happens so frequently that I do not bother replying on complex subjects unless I have time to compose my reply in a separate text editor or notes app.
It is not as SEO friendly as other platforms and it is proprietary so you can't just pack up all your data and bring it to a new host.
I mean, I get why you picked Wix. It is pretty easy to put up an attractive site and the learning curve is practically non-existent so you can appoint administrators without training them. I worked for a company where the elderly CEO loved it and refused to transition to anything else, but that company mainly needed a great catalog and blog -- the forum was dormant.
No other major forum that I know of runs on Wix. o me, FDS is way too valuable a media property to be consigned to the Wix platform.
Dark mode! I do the bulk of my FDS scrolling right before bed and the bright light is hard on the eyes. (If it already exists and someone could talk me through how to turn it on, please let me know!)
I think it would be useful (on the browser version as well as the app!) if forum posts were sorted in a similar way to how they are on Reddit. So you can sort by hot/new etc - I think currently they’re only sorted by new, but obviously posts might pick up in popularity when they’re a bit older and people might miss some interesting discussions if they’re only browsing by new :)
