Just keep commenting on the subreddit like normal, when a moderator sees your comment they'll flair you. We can't take individual requests on the subreddit because the requests are too high.
I have the same question. I have commented on the subreddit for weeks and I still don't have a flair. I hoped the clean up would fix that but it didn't. I haven't messaged mods since the rules ask us not to. But I don't feel like posting help, advice, or even kudos when I am talking to the void.
