? For those who weren't on Reddit

Question

I was never a Reddit user but one of my girlfriends showed me the  FDS sub. She said there was a chance it could get shut down so she told me about this site and encouraged me to join, which I'm glad I did. My question is, are users who were not part of the Reddit unable to become verified members of this group?

Hello - the website verification process and the subreddit flair process are completely unrelated. We have suspended the verification process on the website for the time being for maintenance. Sorry for the inconvenience. We'll post an update in the forum announcements once we roll out the new verification process.

I wonder the same thing. I'm on reddit and got a flair there (which means to me some sort of verification). I don't know how long it takes to get verified on the app. I got an email a few weeks ago, saying that I got verified on here but when I looked at the app it's not applicable somehow? Unlike reddit the app doesn't appear very moderated to me. Which is totally understandable since FDS is a huge and rapidly growing community that requires increased effort to moderate. 
Some comments here would have been deleted and the commentator would have gotten banned if they were posted on reddit, since personal attacks and other forms of pickmeishm are forbidden there.

Fun fact: I also joined the app for the same reason you did.

Edit/follow up: Since we have the same problem I'm afraid I can't help you there. But as a reddit user I can at least tell you that there doesn't seem to be a correlation in the verification process between the app and reddit.
