Hi all. I have been struggling at times to get horny and in a sexual mood. Its like my head and heart wants to be intimate, but my body doesnt. Anyone know a good book on female sexual health? How to get to know your body, how to experience pleasure, how to take care of yourself sexually and maximize benefits of sex? Its not a big issue for me, but i want to learn more about it. Not just female anatomy, but also what is happening mentally, what subconsoius blocks that can occur, etc. Any tips?

I'm going to suggest you communicate with your body; there's presumably a reason why it doesn't want to have sex. Trying to mind over matter yourself doesn't work in my experience - it's like going to war with your own body. There only loser is you.
Trying to make your body want or have sex when it's resistant is going to reinforce the blockage. It's actually there to help you; all of our coping / defence mechanisms and maladaptive behaviours are. They just kinda get stuck in that one position. I would also be interested as to why you are trying to make it happen. You have two opposing needs right now, but we want both of them to be met.
This is the kind of problem I would recommend a therapist for. Personally I would visit Internal Family Systems for this, but any therapist who is holistic might do.
The way to get the most out of sex is to have the ability to recognise your needs, ask for them to be met (with a partner) or meet them yourself, and to have the self esteem to walk away if that person doesn't want to meet your needs in bed. You can practice this in non sexual ways: not all of our needs are sexual after all!
If you mean sex with a man, there's a high chance your body knows he's not right for you. If you mean masturbation, it may have to do with your stimulus- if there's basis in trauma, your body may be stopping you from being re-traumatized. Never force anything.
I enjoy Rosie Rees. This is one of my all-time favorite posts that helped me be single and celibate for a long stretch while still nurturing my sexuality and sensuality as a woman.
